I voted for this request. While I understand the current default of cropping to the original photo aspect ratio, I find that I almost never use it. I would prefer the unconstrained ‘Custom’ setting as a default OR provide a cropping start preference in ‘Preferences’.
Upon re-reading the original post, which I think would be useful, I think my request might be different so I will also create a new feature request.
Would it be possible to develop a function that crops the diplayed picture as it is viewed on screen.
I normally adjust the viewing size to see an example of the picture and let it (f.i.) denoise. If the picture is ready and rendered again I have to crop it.
It would be nice if a crop-as-is-displayed possibility was present
I’d like to be able to set the default crop aspect ratio in Photo AI. Specifically, it’d be very convenient for this to be set to Custom so I don’t have to click the lock button every time I open up a new photo and want to crop to a custom aspect ratio. I almost always crop to a custom ratio.
The next version of TPAI will have presets, so you should be able to set a custom crop that way
I, also, would like to be able to change the default Aspect Ratio so it opens to the crop ratio I set every time I opened the crop tool on a new photo.
Still waiting!
Currently to crop a photo, the cropping box is sized to the desired dimensions. Then the picture has to be moved around so that the object fits into the box. Would it be possible to move around the box to the location, rather than having to move the picture?
Thanks
If you drag the opposite corners of the crop box, you can move the box to the part of the picture you want. Let me know if that answers your question.
Thanks Tim.
But that seems to just keep resizing the crop box until I get it to the correct area of the picture. Ideally, I would like to, more or less, size the box and then move it over to the area of the picture that I want cropped.
Thanks for clarifying.
Can there be zoom functionality added to the crop section of the app? Sometimes there’s cropping I need to do at the near-pixel level.
Thanks for the idea and suggestion! I have moved this thread to our Idea section, please make sure that you do not forget to vote for your idea ![]()
Can you add the feature to allow zooming while cropping? Sometimes precise cropping is needed, and we can’t do that when the image is fit to window.
Also add the ability to flip or mirror an image in crop. Many times slides or negative film is scanned incorrectly which makes the image reversed (left>right). Flip or mirror fixes this. Flipping also can be used creatively. It is included as a tool with almost all photo apps.
When processing a photo, I aim for 16x10 ratio 99% of the time (4000x2250). Since 16x10 is at the bottom of the ratio choices list, it is very inconvenient to repeatedly do this manually. A setting option to default ratio to 16x10 would be very beneficial to me.
I imagine that others aiming for 16x9, or 4x3, etc. would equally benefit.
I would add a second option, or rather, an option to remove the inconvenience of cropping.
Often, when setting the 16:9 (or other) aspect ratio, the image is 1px wider or larger (e.g., 3842x2161).
I would change:
- moving the crop as the last process (in which case, setting the height to 2160px would result in the width being calculated accurately as 3840px)
- adding an additional process to correct the rounding error of the previous crop
Hello, I often use the crop feature to isolate a single subject to enhance. It would be very helpful if you could lock one crop setting across multiple images in a session.
This is my only real gripe about your product, you keep making it better with each version.
I agree 100%. When I have, for example, 3 shots from the same scene to upscale I have to manually enter the crop figure on each one to make sure they are the same.
This is especially true if they all have CGI set extensions. If they have different crops then you have to adjust each one in post rather than reuse the same effect.
