This is definitely interesting. I was not able to recreate your conflict, but I did see something else here. Your bit depth just stays the same?
I could also be the image that I was using possibly. Allow me to look into this.

There has been a new version of Gigapixel released since then. Have you updated to Gigapixel v7.1.2 and are you still running into this?
Could you provide a few sample images where this is happening?

We have resolved this issue in version 7.2.0 but please report this bug again if it happens.
