The apps DeNoise AI & Sharpen AI work better and faster than Photo AI. The latter sometimes does strange things.
They all sometimes do strange things, and indeed using the separate apps allows finer control over the denoise and the sharpening in most cases.
We sometimes start with Photo AI, and if we find TPAI cannot get what we want then use the separate apps. Each has its place, and with TPAI getting so many updates it can be hard to get comfortable with particular choices and values which makes falling back to the individual tools (which we froze to not take updates) because we know how to get what we want in them.
For example, if you are comfortable with standard sharpening in TPAI, there is a warning on StandardV2 “This will become the Standard soon”. Interestingly, on a recent bird photo I found StandardV2 to be better than Standard, so I am excited to take the update although I know I will have to retrain my brain for slider values I prefer.
Photo AI is the only one receiving regular updates. Our plan is to improve the Photo AI performance to be better than the individual apps combined, plus some additional features as well. We appreciate your understanding while we build this app for you.
Well, there we have it! The previous stand alone products are end of life.
I have been using combinations of Sharpen ai, Gigapixel ai, Denoise ai and Video ai. I had begun using Photo ai. Frankly, it is not as well implemented or as user friendly as the separate apps. The interface is is awkward and, so far for me, the interaction between the various functions generate lower quality results than the individual apps. You all would do well to pay attention to not trying to make a swiss army knife that attempts to do everything but fails to do anything well. I made a concerted effort to use Photo ai and simply switched back to the stand alone apps in frustration. I have the most current version of everything and the last upgrade of Photo ai represents a step backward in my experience. I am sure you can make it work better but I would suggest supporting the individual products until you get it right. The individual apps have seen continual improvement and the results they generate are spectacular. Interface refinements with the stand along apps made it so they can be used with impressive control. Not so with Photo ai.
