Education | Photo AI Is "Damaged" And Can't Be Opened | MacOS

This problem is occurring due to an error during the installation process. Typically you will receive an error message similar to the following:


“Topaz Photo AI” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin. This file was downloaded on an unknown date.

If this is the case please follow the instructions below to fix this issue:

  1. Make sure all programs are fully closed.
  2. When you see the Damaged error appear, ignore it and hit Cancel.
  3. Go to your Mac System Settings > Privacy & Security tab and scroll down to the Security section.
  4. Make sure that the option App Store and identified developers is checked as an option, if not already | You can check out a video example of proper settings here. Please note that your OS might look different from the video.
  5. In the Security section, if you see an option that states your Topaz app was blocked, click Open Anyway or Trust. If this option is not there, leave the Security window Open and retest opening your application. Once the application is open, check if this option is in the Security window; if not, you can skip this step.

If the troubleshooting steps above do not work please follow the directions below:

  1. Open a Finder Window.
  2. Go to Finder > Applications and put your Topaz Labs Application in the Trash.
  3. Empty the trash.
  4. Download a fresh copy of the installers from your Topaz Labs | My Products Page.
  5. Rerun the installer.
