Education | Choose Quality When Saving A File

Is there a way to save a file at a higher quality when you export? I sharpened a photo and saved it, and the file size went from 1.8 MB to 761 kb. That seems like a big decrease in information. My output files are usually a lot smaller than the input files. My version is 4.0.2 but this has been happening from the beginning.

file size # quality. If you have a noisy image and do a denoising pass on that the output will be much smaller even if it is looking better as the noise really kills the compression.

That said, you can adjust the jpg compression level in the file save dialog.

I realize that denoising can give a smaller file, but in this case I am talking about just sharpening the subject. Where in the File save dialog box is there a place to adjust the compression? That’s what I have been looking for. I don’t see it when I export, and I don’t see the option in Preferences.
