I need to see a live view of the video currently being processed.
When TVEAI is processing videos, the 2 internal video players show only the preview (and matching original) chunks that we already know (in my case, 10 seconds).
When I want to have an idea of how things are going (how good or bad in the enhancement) for the video currently being processed, I cannot see anything of that in the 2 video players, AND I have to wait for the end of the processing, to be allowed to click on it to see it in an external player (which does not allow to compare side to side).
Really absurd and frustrating.
In other words, the GUI shows graphically useful things ONLY when we are trying âpreviewsâ, but afterwards it DOES NOT show anything useful (except the files progression).
Itâs like if 99% of the time the interface is useless and not worth watching.
We pay an expensive product which does a nice job but which does not allow to monitor it⊠We pay a lot to be âblindâ most of the time.
Itâs a real nonsense.
For users like me who dont have enough processing capabilities to process more than one clip at a time (although Iâm using a Dell Alienware i9 with GeForce RTX 4070), we simply have a software that we cannot âuseâ 99% of the time, I mean that when itâs working we are out of the game, we are not even allowed to see âliveâ what itâs doingâŠ
Why ?
It was so good before that incredible drawback.
I would say that I am neutral on the new UI. Echoing a lot of the other comments, most of my effort is not spent configuring the gui but trying different settings to find what would work best.
With the current UI, I can easily eyeball ALL my settings including upscalers, frame rates, stabilization, and so on. My worry with the new UI is that this would take several clicks.
I also echo a lot of the other feedback that if you are trying to improve usability then things like bringing back preview of an export, improving stability of previews, and allowing for easy pause / checkpoint and resume of processing would go a long way in solving my day to day problems.
Why not simply using little âcontrol panelsâ (like with Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc.) that users would be able to expand/collapse, to drag/drop, and that would keep those positions when we reopen the software ?
This way, everyone would be happy.
Those who want to always we precise settings (filters) would see them, and those who want a clearer view would be able to have it.
Or at least, allow to âtoggleâ (visible/not visible) the right panel with all the settings (if someone is annoyed by that).
Unfortunately, I think itâs already been decided that there will be a re-design, now they just want to know what to adjust. Personally I would have hired more staff for the AI engine team than spend money on a GUI change.
You should get into audio manipulation. There you have iZotope claiming to be the best of the best, but for what I need to do in audio, GoldWave and Stereo Tool work better. Then, anything those donât do (Remove vocals), I have found free tools that work better than RX 10.
Anyway, Topaz is NOT all that expensive. And if it becomes that way, you still can use the last version you boughtâunlike subscription services.
Would not redesigning the UI help the price of TVAI stay down? If the answer is yes, then I think we all would say donât do it.
Hello, I never mentioned audio issues in this topic, I did not see the relation with the discussion.
My biggest problem is the fact that TVEAI has lost the live view of the currently processed video (as I tried to explain twice today in different ways).
We have to use the software âblindlyâ except when doing âpreviewsâ, which becomes necessary to have an idea of the enhancements.
Itâs simply absurd.
Even very bad competitor softwares (like âAVCâ something) show the live progression of the enhancement, which is of course the most basic feature that one would expect.
It was like that with TVEAI in the past, but it has been removed.
Why ?
Iâm not referring to anything audio.
TVEAI is expensive for my purse.
If other softwares are even more expensive, I guess that itâs logical that I donât even know them. I would not know how to find the money to pay them.
The new GUI may not be so bad.
It seems that there is a way to see how an enhancement will be, instantly by clicking a button instead of processing a âpreviewâ chunk of clip ? If yes, it seems very useful.
BUT if they donât restore the live view (enhancement) of the file being processed, then I donât see the point tweaking a GUI when one of the most basic things has been forgotten.
Itâs just puzzling why they removed that.
Normally the updates of a software make it better and add new good things, they donât remove core features, unless everyone things they are useless.
I really donât see why the possibility of monitoring live how the enhancement is going would be useless.
What is useless, is a GUI showing NO graphically interesting things while itâs working, in other words 99% of the time.
Why removing the ability of monitoring what we do ???
Speechless.
The whole point is that the first link I put in there has a price of over 1000 US dollars⊠And itâs not actually the best (for me) software. From what I have tested and tried, TVAI is the best AI enhancer out there. Iâm glad they donât charge delusional prices.
As it is okay to be. I only need to check about three scenes in the video to know if itâs going to do the whole thing acceptably. Far away faces. Grass, Gravel or Trees. A dark scene. Maybe Iâve processed too many movies. Anyway, I havenât watched the last 900+ export at all.
I personally like it, starting having a feel and look of a video editing software I am used to. But still balanced between being too complex and too simple, like a smartphone app.
Some suggestions for the early stage:
Videos:
Being able to change thumbnail size and detailed view.
Sorting by choice, By name-date-resolution
Multiselecting, if next window supports it
Effects:
option to see file info
Add to render queue/export list, not only export
Save as New Preset not to be first / on top of the list
Being able to manually sort presets
Preview progress bar / indicator / counter
Option to move position of the menu over the video, or minimize it
Zoom presets (Fit, 1:1, 0.5 âŠ)
Capture screenshots of same frame with different effects and comparing them
Exports:
Resizable video preview; and turning it off and on
Chance to see system resources while rendering (CPU, GPU, RAM, Heat, HDD free space)
Auto shutdown computer upon completion as an option
Cumulative and single progress bars.
Alert when job is done (mail, sound, smsâŠ) or a notification in the OS
These are just first impressions
Keep up the great work guys!!
What would be a reason the remove the ability to monitor the undergoing progression of the enhancement of a video clip ?
And also, why preventing seing the new clip inside the software (side-to-side, to compare with original) , even if now we - strangely - have to wait for the end of the whole processing ?
Those two things are obviously very useful, but they have been removed.
We cannot monitor live.
We cannot compare the resulting enhanced video with the original.
We can only use the âpreviewâ function.
But those short previews show only a part of the clip.
There can be different scenes, where maybe a setting for a âpreviewâ wonât be good.
Thatâs why itâs useful to be able to monitor the progression, like in the past.
Having a look every 10 mn or every hour, for example.
There is no point in removing something useful.
I do like the space dedicated to the footage itself, instead of the configuration and timeline. I donât think itâs gonna be any problem for pro users as many here say, at the end of the day all we want is better looking videos, so I see no point to occupying the screen with endless features and icons unless we search for them.
Some new features look good, like scene detection and per-scene filtering, but Iâm not sure I will use them.
On the other side, I feel like the UI is too empty, it leaves too much space to the movie. Sub-sub options is making the UI complicated. Having the options on the right side, as it is today, is better. And for per-scene filtering, maybe use a drag-and-drop of the filter/enhancement onto the scene at the bottom timeline.
I agree with posts above, bug fixes should be a higher priority (I have many videos that still donât work since v3.0 and worked perfectly on 2.x versions - and yes I contacted support many times), as well as AI enhancements.
Having read most every post on these forums since VEAI 2.4âŠ
It probably has to do with the amount of complaints that arise from whatever it is that allows mov and mp4 containers to be viewed as theyâre being written. Enabling it must be causing complaints that seem unrelated but equally unacceptable. Disabling it gives rise to your complaints. Pretty sure the cycle has been going on since TVAI 3 was released.
On my side I have no problem with âwhatever it is that allows mov and mp4 containers to be viewed as theyâre being written. Enabling it must be causing complaintsâ.
The live view was working in the past (and it is still working for the previews).
If it is causing a technical problem or slowness, well, then just display a warning about that when we decide to use it.
Itâs not fair to remove a very useful feature without even any explanation.
Am I the only one who wants to monitor the live progress of the videos being enhanced, and who wants to be able to compare that with the original in a side-by-side view ?
Having dropdowns instead of permanent panels for model settings would be a major step back in productivity. I fine-tune the parameters a lot for each file and if I had to open a dropdown menu each time I want to adjust a single setting would be a nightmare.
I always work in split view mode (but side by side would be similar), either with source/model or model1/model2. Ideally, I would have permanent settings for both models (if comparing 2 models instead of comparing one model to source). Either on the left/right or at the bottom close to the seek bar. Ideally, the preview image would be adjusted automatically after a short timeout when I have changed a setting. This would be the fastest way to find the right settings and to compare different models, imho.
Also, in the 2nd video in the bottom left corner it says âStandard Userâ and âUpgrade Planâ. Is this a hint that the business model will be changed and there will be different user levels, possibly charging more for advanced features like batch-processing, command line, ⊠?
