I am an amateur. I do only still photography. I am a pensioner. My income is limited. I bought Photo AI as a one time purchase specifically for the Sharpen feature. I can’t justify paying $399 for Topaz software when my Adobe Photo subscription is only about $120/year and delivers significantly more and essential features. I’ve been with Topaz for many years but it looks like we’re about to part ways.

You wouldn’t be paying $399 a year if you switch to the Auto-Renewal Subscription then you’ll only be paying something like $99 dollars a year for as long as you maintain your Subscription for years to come

If on the other hand, you’re asking about the full Topaz Studio then all you have to do is purchase Gigapixel and switch that to the Auto-Renewal Subscription and you’ll get the full Founders Topaz Studio.

Which includes seven applications plus a hell of a lot more besides for around $138 give or take and that price will be locked in for as long as you maintain your Auto-Renewal Subscription.

I don’t know what sense it makes for me to do that since I only really wanted the focus sharpening feature, and Adobe seems to be addressing that function … plus as my camera bodies get better and better I’m seeing less and less blur/OOF. I’ve got a ton of Topaz ‘legacy’ apps that I haven’t used in years and don’t think I need more.

If the version you already bought has what you need, there’s no need to subscribe or renew. Just keep using that one.

This is still going to cost me more than I am currently paying. No matter how it is explained, it is about bringing in more revenue. My current spending is $99 every two years. I skip a year between purchases. No sure i will continue with Topaz.

I am also on a fixed budget. I have spent, per my receipts on Topaz, $550 to date. I originally joined because of the “never pay for updates” promise that was later rescinded. I am trying to make sense of this per the long transition thread. If I was doing commercial work, maybe, but I mostly do pro bono work for the local music and artist communities. I am not sure I can continue with Topaz? Currently, via the “upgrades” link I can upgrade Gigapixel, Video AI and Photo AI for $213. But the renewal date goes until Sept. 17, 2026 for Gigapixel and Video AI, but Photo AI stops at Sept. 24th 2025. It is confusing.
