Issue: The new UI is overly intrusive, obstructing the view of the video being edited and making it difficult to focus on the video. (two example images attached)
Suggested solution: Allow users to fully customize the UI, including the ability to minimize the sidebar/menus and add a “Focus” mode for the video. In “Focus” mode, the selected video would take up the entire window, with settings and scrubbing controls in a small float box or overlay. This overlay would disappear with a key press or after a set amount of time.
User Benefits: This would allow users to work more efficiently and focus on their videos without having to leave Topaz.
Technical benefits:
- Reducing the amount of UI elements visible would improve performance and reduce CPU/GPU usage.
- Allowing users to customize the UI would improve workflow efficiency and user satisfaction.
- Implementing a “Focus” mode would allow users to preview and edit videos without distractions.
Other users have also reported a number of issues with the new UI, including the most common:
- Looping is gone, making it difficult to preview videos
- Live preview issues, such as stuttering and incorrect syncing
- Zoomed/selective frame viewing on playback
- Forced interface that cannot be customized or minimized
These issues can make it difficult to work efficiently and focus on editing videos, harming the overall UX
