Boardwalk, Japanese American Exclusion Memorial, Bainbridge Island

The Japanese American Exclusion Memorial is a twenty minute walk from us along the south shoreline of Eagle Harbor through old large cedars, maples and alders. It is a quiet pleasant walk and the destination is worth the effort. I wish I would have made it down there, this last week when it was covered in snow. But instead, being snowed in, I took the opportunity to paint up the boardwalk leading to the memorial from a photo I’d taken in the fall. While I was working on this it dawned on me that I should bone up on color theory.

Also, I should mention, I recently discovered a small art gallery where you can walk in with your paints, sit down, paint and drink wine. Frickin’ perfect right?
