If I haven’t missed something, it looks to me that it’s not possible to save cropping settings in a Video AI preset. I have saved all other settings, input / output / enhancement etc, but I am manually setting the crop parameters for each imported video. Since I’m processing a large number of videos all with the same size (old VHS videos) it would be very helpful to me if the crop settings could be saved in a preset for batch processing.
I apologise in case the issue was already addressed or solved. I have found and voted a couple of old requests on the same topic but I could not find a working solution so far.
have there been no answers? I so need this as well as I have an entire films worth of 4x3 that needs to be cropped to 16x9. WTF. a setting is a setting right?
Unfortuantely, this won’t apply to multiple clips. I have 400 of them, so dread is first and foremost in my undertaking. I guess another option would be to string all the clips together and re-export them from Premier as native (faster) then have only one clip to odeal wit in Video AI. Im an editor and batch processes are SOOO important as well as folders or bins to store each step in the process. eg crop , denoise, then add grain or whatever. Also be nice to have some color correction/lighting in the app… yeah right. lol;
I am looking for a way to be able to bulk crop videos. So far, I have to add the cropping values separately to each video in my bulk pool of videos. I have tried selecting Alt+A to highlight all of the videos in the batch pool and then entering the crop values. But, the values do not take. I then have to go back and enter each one separately. Is there any way to do this now? Or, is this feature possible in an updated version?
I use custom 3rd party macro app to open each video and type in the crop for all videos.
( no i do not use or want CLI )
It can go pretty fast but definitely required a lot of safety checks due topaz UI stuttering to keep up with macro lightning fast clicks and typing.
I would still prefer this being a feature of application. At least allow us to copy+apply crop settings on videos with same resolution!
Until Topaz add this facility, if they ever do, perhaps some 3rd party tool or text editor macro could be used to modify the crop region for each video in the project file. The project file contains the region of interest for each video as in the following example:
Thank you so much! That is much quicker.
ROI is indeed there and does work if you export, edit the .tvai and then load the project back in.
It seems the .tvai file don’t even care about correct indentation. (i sort of failed to macro it with indentation across multiple lines required to be replaced, but “flat” worked)
x and y are top-left corner of the cropped region
width and height define size of crop region
From above you can calculate rest…
left = x
right = x + width
top = y
bottom = y + height
(i didn’t try what happens if you ignore derived ones… if TVAI derives these parameters automatically or get angry)
For my use-case i only needed to copy and paste same settings for all videos. “per video” custom crop settings via .tvai file could be way more complicated but not impossible.
Just note that there is some “temproi” setting aswell with similar set of parameters. Maybe its the user set crop in the app ? They did differ from regular “roi” values tho, so no idea.
If you don’t touch cropping at all while importing videos and saving it as project the temproi will not be there which make it easier i guess.
You’re most welcome. I’m glad that worked, and let’s hope that Topaz implements batch cropping in the UI before long, by whatever means. E.g.
Define a crop region using the current method, but to multiple selected videos (maybe with the restriction that they all have exactly the same original dimensions)
and / or
The ability to copy a crop region and then paste to another one or multiple selection
