Basic questions about Video AI

Hi all,

Im new here and already have some amazing results using Video AI to restore a very noisy German TV series. Results are so far crazy good after I tested several AI models and output sizes/qualities.

I have just some basic question I could not find an answer so far:

  • The font size in the GUI is really small. I have a 1440p monitor and use 125% zoom in Windows which is fine for almost all programs. Is there any way to enlarge the font size/GUI of Video AI?
  • When I export more then one file, my preferences are used and the videos are named automatically. When I export only one video I can only choose “Export As”, which points to the wrong export folder and I need to name it manually. How can I export one video with the automatic settings of exporting two or more videos?
  • In handbrake I use mkv as container. In the help of Video AI I found mp4 to be the preferred container. Why? As far as I know mkv is regarded as the better container, since its open source and much easier to edit (eg add subtitles, remove audio tracks etc). But maybe im missing something?

Thank you for your time

I am not a fan of MKV files. You can mix many things into an MKV container, but it can cause compatibility issues. Not all media player or TV support mkv file.
Most importantly, you can’t even import an MKV file into Premiere Pro because Premiere Pro doesn’t support MKV files.

Premiere Pro is hindering video container technology in the same way that the Xbox 360 hindered video game engine technology… for ten years! In those years, no one wanted to make a game that used new technologies because it wouldn’t work on the Xbox 360.

You will have to examine your total setup to see if mkv will take you all the way. @lhkjacky is completely right about other more useful programs not being able to open mkv files.

My setup is needlessly complex and relies on mkv files. My sources are all mkv. I convert to PNG with TVAI. Then convert those to H.265 in mkv containers. Add the audio subtitles and chapters back in form the original. I stream them to my Roku player from a Plex server.
