Two Things. First, did you know that the difference between “back yard” and “backyard” is that if you barbecue in your back yard on Sunday, you can eat leftovers from your backyard barbecue on Monday. When you talk about your back yard as a place, use two words. If you’re describing a backyard activity or object, use one word. Second, when ever I wander around my back yard, I think of Claude Monet’s quote “Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment.”
