It would be helpful to have an auto color correct model similar to Hyperion but not necessarily just for converting to HDR. Especially if you’re editing an older movie where the color has started to degrade from age or was made with an older camera that wasn’t very good with color quality. Even if it’s not perfect, it at least helps save some time trying to get the color right later when editing.
Yes—that’s a good idea, but I’d also add one more thing.
Older MiniDV footage often suffers from severe color casts, especially in low-light scenes. Instead of neutral whites, the footage frequently becomes heavily tinted blue or green because of the camera’s automatic white balance and limited low-light performance.
An AI model that could automatically restore more natural white balance and skin tones for legacy footage would be incredibly useful.
Same thing with old VHS-C tapes. My father had one the first VHS-C cameras when they first came out and the color was horrible. I’ve been trying to restore the tapes with Davinci Resolve but they have so much blue in them, its hard to balance the color.
