Artemis medium + iris v2

Hi ! I would like to know for Iris if it is better with an Upscale x2 or if x1 is better for SD sequences. Even if the performance of the new iris is improved, in x2 or even in 1280x720, it lags quite a bit with my gtx 1660 so I can’t do too many tests.. I’m currently trying artemis medium with the original recovery details at 100 % + iris, it gives me very good results by pushing the details of the sd sequence with “keepgrain =8” with qtgmc in Hybrid before. The details are well restored but the problem is that artemis medium adds but also removes quite a bit, visible in black colors. If I use artemis hight instead, it brings out too many artifacts. I tried nyx + iris but it’s not better. All this in SD. But could there be a step where I can render in 1280x720 with Hybrid using lancsoz or bicubis or bilinear etc or could an artemis medium x1 and iris x2 pass be better? In any case, iris v2 is better than v1, but on passages with fast movements, or the colors are dark, sometimes details are missing.

Actually I upscale 2x to 4k with doubling the frame rate.
I get good results using
1st step: Artemis Medium Qality and Recover Original Detail @ 60
2nd step: IRIS Auto and Recover Original Detail @ 20

actually it’s really not bad, the image is clean but there are two things that bother me, the first: the details on the side of the guitar are a little too restored I think, too pronounced. but on the other hand we can distinguish musical notes on the sheet that we don’t see on the original, it’s crazy  the second: have you tried applying a slightly stronger dehalo? I also find that even if it is clear, we see black halos that are a little too high. in my case, if I set “recovery original details” to 60 with artemis medium, I think I lose too much detail, because artemis medium already smooths out some details even at 100%. but I’m going to try, maybe it can remove more artifacts and therefore with iris afterwards, it lowers the compression to compensate. in any case, I use artemis dehalo + iris without upscale, so I will try as you do, artemis medium at 60% and upscale iris x2

With few preliminary tests I got quite pleasing results on LQ content running a dual enhancement Iris/Iris.

Doing an Iris V2 upscale first followed by an Iris V1 second enhancement pass seems to clear up the video well from chroma noise and also gives sharpness/additional details. Areas where Iris V2 goes a little “over the top” are then diminished/“smoothed out” by the second Iris V1 pass.

I also tried it the other way round: Iris V1 2x and then Iris V2 as second enhancement which is a little bit sharper but tends to introduce slightly more artifacts.

Going to try this.

But be aware that you’re prone to see some monster faces.
Only Iris LQ V1 with the right settings (of the newer models) mostly manages to avoid this for small faces, e.g. large audiences in the back.

Thanks for the heads up!
