Al photo noise reduction smearing detail

A long standing issue with Photo Ai is that its noise reduction is treating texture as noise. the end result looks smearing and unnaturally smooth. Ai Denoise however retains texture detail whilst removing any noise.

It is a known issue and developer are working on it.

We’re now actively working on:

• New Remove Noise model for non-raw images that improves slider responsiveness, better preserve textures, and offer adjustable sharpening
• New Sharpen model that produces fewer artifacts

Improving the performance of our AI models takes a while, but we think the new denoising and sharpening models will be worth the wait.

I thought this had been fixed, at least to some extent. I will run my “test” images for fabric texture later today to confirm, since this is sometimes GPU-related.

Admittedly, I have tested only one image, but it’s one that earlier versions of TPAI could not handle. Now I find it gives comparable results to DxO Pure Raw, maybe slightly better even.

I suggest you send your image to Support for further training, since this is/was a known issue
