Activation error – using Topaz Video AI on cloud GPU (render farm VM)

Hello Topaz Support Team,

I’m trying to run Topaz Video AI on a cloud GPU server (iRender) under Windows 11. When I log in with my Topaz account, Chrome verifies the credentials fine, but inside the Video AI application I remain stuck in trial mode. The app repeatedly asks me to log in again.

I believe this is not a licensing or account problem — my subscription is active and works on my local machine. It seems that the cloud VM cannot reach Topaz’s activation servers. This type of setup (cloud GPU / VM) is allowed under the EULA as long as the software is used on a personal machine, not offered as a hosted service.

Could you please confirm which domains and ports the application needs to contact (e.g. *.topazlabs.com, activation endpoints) so I can ask my provider (iRender) to whitelist them?

For clarity:

  • Software version: Topaz Video AI v 7.x

  • OS: Windows 11 • GPU: 4 × NVIDIA RTX 4090 on iRender machine

  • Issue: “Connection error – Couldn’t connect to our servers to complete activation.”

  • What I’ve tested already: login via browser works, VPN / proxy / firewall on client machine disabled, reinstall, run as admin, no local antivirus, all network traffic looks normal except activation is blocked inside the app.

The app Video AI and the new app Topaz Video are not designed ot run on Virtual Machines and are not officially supported in this capacity.

Looking at your account you have a subscription to the new app Topaz Video which covers just that app, it does not cover access or use of the older app Video AI in version 7 though. Launching it and logging in with your credentials should only be launching the app in a trial mode anyways under your account.
