About older, 5.0.4 version - my Founder license seems not to apply

Hi!

I’d love to still be able to use TVAI 5.0.4 for some older workflows, but today, I’ve noticed I’m no longer able to activate it. Could you help with it?

Edit: After starting 7.1.3 once, the issue disappeared, but only because I ‘directed’ both 5.0.4 and 7.1.3 to the same ProgramData folder (different, than new subscription-based applications use). Would it be possible to issue a permanent license file for older applications, to avoid future activation issues, if you happen to change the way you do it (and old apps will become incompatible with it)?

You should just need to launch 5.0.4 and log in with your credentials, and it should generate a new auth token for that app.

If you have multiple versions of Video AI installed on the system, this can cause issues with the token storage and authentication.

Yes, it would be possible. But no way would Topaz do that. They would then lose control. Their definition of a “perpetual” licence is that it’s only perpetual for as long as they allow the authentication token to be updated.

Yeah, but it didn’t valid itself - it just ‘looped’ between the browser and the app, and the browser didn’t display the localhost page with the ‘Activated’ message, just 404 error.

So I thought running last non-subscription version would alleviate that, as both 5.0.4 and 7.1.x use the same ProgramData folder for me (applications are in different folders, of course, but the JSONs and models are, for the most part, the same, right?). And, luckily, it did work, but I wonder, for how long, as the server-side of the activation will be eventually upgraded/changed, right?

The expiring token existence in the first place might be an issue in the future for the users, so I’d love a permanent solution for 5.0.4 (or all older versions of the apps we have, as Founders).

Can you send me the logs from version 5.0.4 so we can look at what was not working between the browser and the app interface? help@topazlabs.com

Thanks.

Of course! Here you are:

Thank you. You are seeing the issue where version 5.0.4 and earlier hits an issue when you hold a Pro license and an Individual license on the same email it causes errors when trying to log into 5.0.4 as the system cant read both. What we were doing for users when this was a bigger issue back when the Pro license was launched, is that we would move the Individual license to a separate email.

If you want to send me an email at help@topazlabs.com we can get that sorted out for you to use both licenses.

Oh, so should I write an email that I’d like to use Pro license on a different email account, or to have them both at my current one?

We would need to move one of the licenses to a different email as the system can not handle both being on one email account when trying to log into 5.0.4. It was patched in 5.1.0 and newer where they could reside on the same account. It was just an issue for 5.0.4 and earlier due to the authentication process it runs.

Send me a message at help@topazlabs.com with the other email you want to have it moved to and a link to this post and I can handle it. That way the email gets routed to me directly in our support system.

OK! I sent it. I’ll probably have to set up another account for the e-mail, right?

`auth api error: 400 Bad Request\n {"error":"invalid_grant","error_description":"Authorization code doesn't exist or is invalid for the client"}`

That’s the message for me on the page, after a while.

I have to make sure I still have my Founder status, since account.topazlabs.com also seems to have a terrible lag (I’m in the EU).

EDIT: Uff. I’m still a Founder.

It worked! Uff.

More pain is with the browser, to be frank - to re-login to my main account (cookies…)
