Zoom Improvement | Set Preference To Always View At Fit Size Rather Than 100%

When I send a photo through to Photo AI from Lightroom (by selecting ‘Edit In’ > Photo AI), it is shown in Photo AI at a 100% view.
I generally find this view, way too large and I almost always then have to select ’ the ‘Fit’ option (in the bottom right corner of the Photo AI window, so that I can see the whole photo rather than a zoomed in selection.
Is there any way to select the ‘Fit’ view (rather than 100% view) as a ‘preference’ rather then having to select 'Fit every single time I ‘Edit In’ Photo AI?
This would save me a lot of time as I edit a lot of images this way.

I would like the images to open in “FIT” mode and not “100%”
I want to see the photo as a whole and decide on the improvement strategy, crop etc

Is there any way to select the ‘Fit’ view (rather than 100% view) as a ‘preference’ rather then having to select 'Fit every single time in Photo AI? It has to be chosen with each image. If this is currently there, I apologize, I did not see it and am a fairly new user. Dorothy

Currently this is not a feature for viewing options while using Topaz Photo AI, however this is a great idea!

Make sure that you do not forget to vote for your idea in this thread

Hello @duncan.wood-1949 and everyone!

We have released today in our v3.1.0 a new processing behavior. IF you have the Fit view processed, changing in and zooming in will no longer cause reprocessing to happen. WE would like you to test it and let us know any feedback you have

You will be able to download this update from your app directly or by using the following link here:

Here is the full list of changes/fixes done on this release. Please let us know if you have any issues in updating to this version!

Yes I vote for this!

I use photo AI on its own and I would like the images to open in “FIT” mode and not “100%”
I want to see the photo as a whole and decide on the improvement strategy, crop etc
Currently I have to change them to FIT from 100% every time I open an image very annoying and time consuming slowing down my workflow. Can this be added as an option in the preferences.

I’ll join in…

Feels kind of silly that I can’t just get an idea of what I’ll be dealing with as a whole before getting to work…
I’m sure we all do our culling outside of PAI but even so - get the autopilot to render a preview of the whole photo upon adding it when opening (or clicking the thumbnail) is a much better option than getting a 100% - and naturally a rather small part of the photo, at least with my 32mp.

Yes,I do the occasional pixel peeping, but not after just having opened a photo.

Hi could you please add buttons to show image as 100% and additional button FIT. This are the most used button and now everyt time i add filters from preset, image size is change and i have to move mouse to bottom corner , expand menu for choosing in. there is a planty o place directly on the same bar . add it on that same bar in the centre.

It would save a lot of time and its 2min of dev work to do that (im programmer too :))

Hi.

Have you tried the keyboard shortcuts, already incorporated within Photo AI

Fit to Screen = Command/Control 0

100% View = Command/Control 1

Also, if you use the keyboard shortcut Command/Control Plus or Minus you can move back and forth between the zoom increments

Hope this makes it easier for you

yes i see in setting that there are keyboardshorts ( are there somehow changeable? ). but why not add buttons direct with shorts i have to make unnecerasry hand move about 20cm while with mous it require only 2cm handwaist move  sorry you could think thats kinda crazy but with large amount of pictures you seek to optimise your works

No sorry you can’t change the keyboard shortcuts because, they are pretty much already standardized shortcuts for instance Control Plus Z = Undo

If Topaz did decided to implement the Fit to Screen & 100% View buttons that’s great

I was merely pointing out there’s a better and quicker way of selecting Fit to Screen & 100% View by the use of keyboard shortcuts

Also, using the mouse excessively can lead to health issues where by, alternating between the keyboard and mouse can reduce the strain on your wrist and hand.

Basically, keyboard shortcuts make your life easier, faster and with less strain.

and except that Ctrl + 0 do not work  i try both left and rigth and it donot change zoom.

PS: why not adding such a buttonas i ask? its 30sec of work for programer and there is plenty of room on bar uder the picture. and certainly moving mouse over such a button and click is faster then changing position of left hand andpositioning fingers over ctrl and 0 (if it worked i pressume it require left ctrl, so if your not mastere pianist(or alien) it made you to use both hand so: no its hell far from being user friendly shortcut note that i talk about people who work on hundreds of pictures a day :D).

Our team is happy to release v3.6.0 which includes this Idea into the recent release :tada:

You can download an installer for v3.6.0 from the following link and find the full release notes as well :slightly_smiling_face:

I think the user should be able to set the default zoom level when opening an image - it currently defaults to 100%, and I can’t see a way to change this. A 100% view is useful for evaluating the level of denoising or sharpening, but I would like to start out looking at the whole image, which is helpful if I need to decide on masking, or if I just want a global view of things before I zoom in for closer inspection. As it is, I basically have to start every instance of Topaz by zooming out, which of course is a simple click or keyboard shortcut, but these things add up. I realize a lot of people might prefer to start out at the 100% view, which is maybe why this is the default behavior, but I think ideally this should be customizable for the best user experience.

Hi I believe the reason for the 100% preview is so Photo AI has fewer pixels to work with, this equates to faster processing times

Therefore, If you have the preview set for, fit to screen Photo AI has to calculate the whole image which takes a longer amount of time to process and you probably zoom in anyway

Hope this answers your question

The processing may take marginally longer, but that’s why the default should be able to be set to the user’s preference. We all have different workflows and ways of analyzing our images. For me, I find it very disorienting to begin the session already zoomed in. What if I want to zoom in to a point of interest that is not dead-center? Sure, it’s easy enough to move the box around, but these are all little extra steps that add up when you’re working with dozens of images.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about Photo AI specifically, although I suppose the UI is the same (I mostly just use DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI as Lightroom plug-ins).

I agree with Mike. I would prefer to be able to set the default Zoom level as well. Thanks!
