Workflow for 50 year old slides

I have slides which my dad took in the 1950s-1970s.
I’ve scanned many, and performed adjustments over the past 17 years on some of them.

I think there are sometimes multiple problems, which need more than one solution.

  1. Poorly focused original
  2. Motion of a person within an otherwise still scene
  3. Softening of images, perhaps due to chemical deterioration

I see how to mask within Sharpen AI. I suppose I could apply some changes generally, save the file. Start again with a different mask and apply different settings. Maybe go for a third cycle with still other masking and settings applied. Then use an editor which can pull in images as layers, and merge them.

Is that what other folks recommend?

Thanks,
Richard
