Workaround to get better faces

I have found the FaceAI to not look very good when upscaling vintage photos. I figured out a way to fix that by applying FaceAI first and then upscaling. If AutoAI were to do that it might fix that for others.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Apply AutoAI to original photos. If it doesn’t enable FaceAI, enable it. Check the faces up close. They will usually look like Frankenstein’s monster.
  2. Turn off AutoAI in the Preferences
  3. Turn on FaceAI, make sure the faces are selected. I had to manually select 3 of the 4 faces in this photo. Check the faces up close. Faces look much better and recognized the glasses.
  4. Upscale the photo. Check the faces up close. They still look good.
