Why Video Processing Can Take So Long in Topaz Video

Hi, I'm using Topaz Video IA to improve the quality of a VHC video, and it takes 37 days to convert. Is there any way to speed this up without affecting the conversion quality?

Could it be because I only have 8 GB of RAM?

8Gb of system RAM? I’m kind of surprised that the app even runs at all on that. What GPU do you have?

we need your system specs. u can get some qick info and benchmark from UserBenchmark: PC Speed Test Tool - Compare Your PC . u can post your result link here.

some qick performance improvements, set ‘restore detail’ to 0, use h264 instead of pro res encoder for output. and do u need stabilization ?

Just wanted to point out that UserBenchmark is and always has been garbage and shouldn’t be relied on for benchmarks. That website is a meme in the PC building/enthusiast community.

i partially agree with your ‘garbage’ statement (esp benchmark comparability between Intel and AMD systems) but I am a pragmatic person and found it to be one of the easiest applicable of such tools for layman and the performance comparison with other systems with same/very similar components works usually pretty well (eg wrong RAM spee by not enabling the correct profile in bios or putting 1 of 2 RAM sticks in wrong slot and thus not enabling dual channel configuration,… )

Personally. I assemble PCs since 30 years. The last 5 only AMD systems.

Could someone post an alternative to User Benchmark for OP to

  • Give quick system overview
  • Quick performance overview, especially with similar systems for easy detection of misconfiguration
  • Ideally, results should be easy to share for others, like the result link in User Benchmark
  • Necessary app/site/software should be quick to download and install + uninstall

Thanks in advance!

User benchmarks are like the EPA mileage estimates for cars. They don’t accurately predict performance under real-use conditions, but they provide a comparison between different configurations. Your benchmark may not tell you what the actual fps for your system is going to be, but if another user’s system scores twice the fps, there’s a pretty good chance their system actually is twice as fast as yours.

Based on your screenshots from the app release, running two models at 1080p for the export and using the ProRes codec, my guess is that you have 8GB of system RAM and no additional GPU with VRAM for processing. If you care to share the logs from the app with the support team at help@topazlabs.com we can try and assist but there is limited support for this version of the app at this time.

To gather logs, please select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support and attach the zip file to your reply.
