I have a brand new, maxed out MacBook Pro with the M4 Max processors. Gigapixel 8 takes forever to process an image, so I watched the CPU utilization while it was running. It only uses one of the 12 performance CPU cores available, maxing out at 100% utilization. Photo AI utilizes all of the CPU cores, over 1,000% utilization. Why is Gigapixel 8 only using one CPU core to process images?
Same on my mini M4Pro, only efficiency cores in use at extremely tiny load. I started a Redefine 2x upscale on an iPhone ProRaw image over 36 hours ago and it is still not complete and there is nothing to indicate actual progress. I see the big BETA label of course but this is more like a proof of concept than a product, which would be fine if it wasn’t the big headline feature in all their advertising. I paid to upgrade for this feature and it is basically useless for anything larger than a thumbnail sized image. It feels like deceptive advertising and I want a refund.
It’s nice of Topaz to respond to my original post, NOT! This software is alpha quality, at best, for the Mac. Nothing like spending $4k on a MacBook Pro to have Gigapixel only use a fraction of one CPU. I’ve been a big fan, and heavy user, of Photo AI, but this Gigapixel is absolute garbage. How do I get a refund for it?
