What processor will increase performance (because the graphics card is 30-50%)

Hi

Since I found out myself that Topaz Video AI does not use the full performance of the graphics card for that it likes the processor - what is the most efficient for such applications at the moment?

What I do:

  1. Enchancement - Proteus Model (without upscaling).
  2. Enchancement - Proteus Model + upscaling 1280x720 to 1920x1080.

In both applications

  • graphics card usage is 30-48%
  • CPU usage is 100% on all cores
I tried various settings suggested here like reducing available memory, but it doesn’t do much.

My config is: intel 12900K, 64 RAM DDR4 3200, rtx4090.

I have a feeling that probably only replacing the processor can improve something.

My benchmark score: Video AI v3.4.X - User Benchmarking Results - #81 by gregre3

Realistic results are currently going simultaneously 2 videos with only Enhancement (no upscaling) and it shows 4.4 fps for each. When 3 movies go simultaneously it goes down to 3.3 fps for each. I understand that they add up to the maximum performance - although a single one never reaches as much as the sum of 2 or 3.

The most important thing for me is to speed up the process.

What are your suggestions and experiences?
What processor can speed things up? 13900KS? Or maybe one from AMD?

I don’t know much about Topaz but from what I’m reading, the most straightforward would be a 13900K(S), yes. (Beyond trying server hardware) And yea the 4090 won’t really be utilized fully until they somehow focus on scaling GPU hardware their workflow, NV Link doesn’t seem to help either. It seems anything above a 3080-3090Ti won’t add much in performance - however the workstation cards may or may not also give good/better results again, once Topaz works on the utilization more. But that might also take years.

I think in all the benchmark results, the 13900K is faster than any AMD CPU when pared with a 4090. You’ll probably need a new motherboard that does DDR5 RAM too.
