1/ dev is not a support ticket.
2/ he’s not here to answer on a forum, while doing this he can’t work on the software.
3/ he’s certainly working on the new video engine as he told it, that he wanted to have it on the next beta, and spending time to answer to you or the others make him impossible to work on the software.
4/ someone has been hired to anwer us, not the dev. it’s not his job.
5/ please don’t start again the “he left the company” / “the software is dead” etc…
I went even more aggressive Proteus V3.
The following is just a general statement not directed to anyone person but from my knowledge growing up with a father that did film work and film restoration in the late 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s for the government. My bedroom was next to our dedicated home darkroom.
With videos like this short of hand cleaning frame by frame you can never get a smooth, clean, even final. These films originally were not that good. Acetate warpage was common. Film emulsions were not even on the acetate except for the very highest quality films. Camera sprockets would have uneven ware. Cameras would have light leaks. Then comes the problems of analog generational degradation as copies are made from other copies and not the master.
Also in 1931 film making was only 5 or 6 years in to filming with sound. Big budget films were only a couples of years old with sound. Films of this type was ‘new’ technology and had the same growing pains we have now with AI.

Doesn’t change the fact that he went completely silent after the release. What’s the point of continuing to post issues that exist in the release if he’s gone silent?
He certainly managed to answer the forum and work on the software at the same time for the last couple weeks, and did it quite well.
A middleman between the testers and the dev is pointless, you know that.
Also, never tell me what to do.
Yeah, I’m always depressed when I see an old film and the resulting film rot, it pales and becomes over exposed, I fuckin’ despise film as an archaic standard and am glad that digital have taken over that wretched medium!
Sorry if this may cause offense, but while film admittedly looks wonderfully organic at first, like everything organic it rots over time, where its luster fades into artifacts and de-saturated overexposure, digital however, can mimic film and can last far longer!

just to tell that Film has a very big and hugue positive point in front of Digital Contents. Digital Contents are volatile, not film. even after 50,60 , 70 years 100… you can still save a film or a Tape. with digital content this is an another story. I have here 16mm, Hi8, Betacam SP Tape (no kidding), not even speaking about VHS. I restaured 8mm tapes from 60’s, etc … All this, even with degraded pictures with time are usuable. (for the normal customer)
the number of DVD, bluray, CD, burned or bought, and which start to stop working, not even talking about break of Hardisc, or the limited lifetime of SSD, etc… in short term, I love digital content, but don’t know yet at which points it can survive to the time compared to Film or analog support.
The main issue I have with film is the degradation of picture, so unless you have the negatives sealed in a vacuum film is gonna degrade…
That is not to say if you repost an original 1080p video at 480 down to 240, that it will retain it’s clarity, no, its copies will degrade most definitely, but if each copy is lossless, then no, the video in and of itself will not degrade as it can be transferred into a non-physical form, and yes, so too can film as well…
And if you take care and store a film in a vacuum-sealed archive, yes of course it can last, but your average film copy will degrade as it would have been shown and played multiple times at multiple theaters and film houses, however, if you were to do the same with digital it would not degrade as much over time.
TL;DR: A film played multiple times over the years will degrade faster than digital over the same period… But a film stored properly can last a lifetime!

I understood, I just wanted to clear up what I meant earlier.
You meant that while the film can last a long time and it can be restored from the original medium, yet it is not yet clear how long digital can last because of how unstable the medium is because it can stop working at any time due to the players/discs and other means to display them can easily break…
And that it’s hard to determine how long they can last compared with film as film has a longer history than digital media.

right (thanks) i was thinking about catastrophic situation, there is a good example in the movie the Time Machine (George Pal version from the 60’s), or the (anolog disc , sorry) in voyager. all this without any electricity.
For now, hard disc and SSD are not a good support for sure.

Yep, as far as being able to view them without electricity, film definitely wins hands down as we can still view films without it so if there were a catastrophic permanent EMP event, digital would be useless, so yeah, film could very well stand the test of time!

You should chisel your films in stone. That will survive like hyroglyphs any elctromagnetic storm 
Don’t get me wrong I still prefer digital over film especially if shot in 60fps, but the fact is that film would be still viable without electricity…
I purchased the license for version 2.6.0 will it also be valid for future versions?

yes, but during one year. your licence is valid for one year. so the 13/11/2022, if the version at this moment is the 3.0 , you’ll be able to keep it and use it, but you’ll not be able to upgrade to 3.1 if it’s released 2 months later, you’ll have to pay the renew licence.
Lol and here I was thinking it was single purchase. $300 annual licenses for worse upscales than SNSRGAN and worse motion interpolation than DAIN.

Here comes anothe bug: comparison view, when selecting single frames from the preview via the right or left arrow, will show not the same frame for every AI model but frames one or two frames earlier or later for some models. That makes it hard to select the best model judging from the preview. A restart of VEAI remedies the problem for some time but eventually it will pop up again.

Oh, and one more: I usually use one of three models, and of course those are the ones I select for preview. VEAI unfortunately does not remember the choice. For example, I preview a video with Proteus, Artemis HQ and Artemis MQ. After saving the video with my model of choice, when I preview the next video, the models used for preview are not recalled by VEAI. I may end up with the original view and one of the models used previously for all 3 preview windows (e. g. 3 windows each using AHQ). That ist pretty senseless and it would make much more sense to have VEAI save the preview model choice für the next video to be processed.

Ok…just upgraded to v 2.6 from v 2.4…
Worked fine for 3 days…now suddenly, it won’t connect to the internet to download the optimized versions. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program and the issue is still there. What gives? OBVIOUSLY my internet is working because I am posting here, nothing else on my end changed except for the upgrade. It’s really disheartening to pay big cash for a program that just decides to crash one of its important features…
Any help on a workaround?
