Video Enhance v2.6.4

Oh, I understand now. Thanks!

Thanks!

Can some one please re post how to save models after re formatting a computer? How Can I save all 100GB+ models and re link them when i re format? Windows 10

Just back up the models folder and drop the files back in after reinstalling.

Windows restarted and only got 65GB. I can not get it to download anything else.
C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video Enhance AI

If you go to that default location i donā€™t see any models folder.

Now if you go to:
C:\Users\Bruce\AppData\Roaming\Topaz Labs LLC\Video Enhance AI

I see the models folder but it only has 65GB of data. More over if you go to the first folder and try to change it to were the models really are it says warning you are about to move 65GB of data.

The fuck?

I went to the models manager and had to select all the old versions. Still does not explain the location going to a place that the models are NOT at.

Thereā€™s a LOT of clunky code like that in VEAI. Iā€™ve pointed out some of it as others have. They keep blaming the ā€œinstallerā€ and saying that they donā€™t do the installer in houseā€¦itā€™s done somewhere else, so changes to it take forever. Weird situation, Iā€™ve never heard of writing your own software but not making your own installer, but ā€¦yeah.

I have mine set to an external drive, and the models folder gets duplicated somewhere else frequently, so if VEAI decides to wipe them randomly, I have a copy. I also have it set to download ā€œall at onceā€ but it never does it.

I see.

Now I know why people complain a lot about the program. I got it for sale on black Friday with sales and coupon codes and paid like $87 bux but if i paid full price i would be super pissed off right now. This program needs about another year or 2 and then i think it will be great. The only thing this program is good for is my porn hub videos jeez.

UPDATE
I was able to get rid of the black spot noise in a multi-step process.

  • First used Shutter Encoder to DeInterlace at original resolution and out put as 422 (Original Source was AVI).
  • Second used VEAI ALQ at original resolution to clean up noise
  • Third used VEAI AAA to upscale to 4K

Anything else I tried just destroyed detail and made it cartoonish.
Hopefully this will help someone else and hereā€™s hoping that a future update brings this back to one step.

I am very excited about it!

I hope we have a selection of CPU or GPU for the encoding. There are differences in different models of GPUā€™s of hardware encoders. I have Pascal, Turing and Ampere cards and the differences in the encoding engines can be stark. At least with CPU that is mostly taken out of the equation with software based encoding. I understand for lower core count CPUā€™s the GPU encoding will be a great advantage but as someone with high core count cpuā€™s the utilization is extremely minimal. Options are almost always a good thing.

In what way does QTGMC look better?

much better de interlacing so you have an extra quality in the picture which is very impressive.

Iā€™m having an issue with the aspect ratio on some of the videos I import into VEAI. The video below was ripped from a DVD. MediaInfo lists the DAR as 16:9, but when I import to VEAI, I get a squished image. Would appreciate if anyone could help.

Here is what the video looks like when imported to VEAI.

Here is the MediaInfo

your dvd ripping , when loading into VEAI is seen as an anamorphic picture (which is the format the dvd is in). usually, VEAI convert the picture to proper 16-9 non anamorphic if my memory is good, but on this one, it fails. which format do you load ? Vob ? Mpeg ? at worst, you can convert an anamorphic file to a non anamorphic one using many software. just do some search about it on google. I didnā€™t tried yet to put directly an anamorphic picture into VEAI so canā€™t really tell if itā€™s an ā€œissueā€ or not, from VEAI, or your original video.

Edit : saw the summary, so itā€™s a Mkv but with a mpeg2 in it, you used MakeMkv maybe ?
Edit (2) : iā€™m sure someone using much more VEAI and DVd than me has the right solution for you ! ;).

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I did use MakeMKV. Iā€™ll do some googling like you suggested.

EDIT: After doing some research, I was able to solve the problem by using the command below in ffmpeg:

ffmpeg -i INPUT -aspect 853:480 -c copy OUTPUT

I think that Proteus is nearly perfect for de-noising/de-blocking/de-blurring/de-aliasing as well as upscaling.
The sharpening is a bit extreme though, and eyes, unless they are detailed and close up usually give it away. It does something weird to eyes.
The anti-aliasing also seems very hit and miss. It will detect some aliasing and fix it, but other obvious aliasing will be ignored.
Looking forward to future updates.

I recently purchased Video Enhance AI after trying the trial version to upscale some old interlaced videos to make them look much better. Everything worked fine for the first 25-30 videos, but now, at the end of every video conversion I get an error message saying Topaz Video Enhance AI has stopped working and then it shuts down. This happens when I only convert one video or if I load a couple of videos it happens after the first one has been processed.

Iā€™ve tried to reinstall the application, Iā€™ve tried removing the entire application and reinstalling everything as a fresh install, but neither one of these seem to fix this issue. I donā€™t have any problems with any other video editing apps, photo editing apps, or any apps. Being a new user, I canā€™t upload the error report I saved from the Event Viewer in Windows 11 x64 so Iā€™ve copied the information and pasted it below in case this might help someone identify what might be causing this issue and give me some suggestions to try. Having over 1000 videos to upscale, it would take me a long time to do one at a time and then have to close the application, reopen it, convert another, etc. Iā€™d really appreciate any suggestions to fix this error.

And if itā€™s helpful, Iā€™m running Windows 11 x64 with an Intel i9-11900KF processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Hi, I assume you checked what the windows error means and already tried the fix related to this error, outside of a possible VEAI error ?

  • this error is sometimes related (from what google tell) - Corrupted file system. did you launched a file system repair ? (there is an automatic command from Windows to do this)
  • can be related to corrupted or badly Net Framework installation.
  • Possible Malware / Virus.

once that is checked , Video Enhancde Ai has a Log feature , to be turned on and so it can record a full log when the error happens and that you can send to topaz support. If i had a suggestion, it would be to check all possible windows issue above, and contact Topaz support, unless someone here got the same error as you and can help :

Thank you! Iā€™ll try all of these suggestions today and run another video through it to see what happens, with the logging enabled. Thank you very much!
