Video AI v5.4.0 empty previews near 16k resolution

MacBook Pro M2 Max 14"
Topaz Video AI v5.4.0 (no more upgrade license)
Any resolutions near the 16K limit render blank files and changing to image sequence creates empty folders in the preview folder rather than folders full of preview files.
I understand Video AI has a 16K limit but this shouldn’t mean that files under 16K resolution should give up rendering.
logsForSupport.zip (1.5 MB)

The logs are showing that the model is trying to upscale past the 15360x8640 limit.

Going to send the logs to the dev team to see why it is throwing an error in regards to unsupported number of slices.

The issue is when I then afterwards try and go below that by changing the width and height, the previews still give a resolution fail/do an empty preview. I’m trying to upscale DCI 4k to near 16k so I understand I can’t do exactly 400% upscaling but lower SHOULD work but doesn’t. Idk what could be fixed since I haven’t renewed my license.

For instance, previewing 5 frames at 15000x7910 doesn’t work even though it’s under the 16K limit. This is with TIFF, which to my knowledge doesn’t have any dimensions limit (I do 400MP panoramas in Photoshop…)
EDIT: 14000x7382 doesn’t work either even though it’s far under the limit
EDIT 2: same with 13000x6856
EDIT 3: same with 12000x6328
EDIT 4: same with any resolution above 8k. This is ridiculous.

Example showing that preview doesn’t update either due to the empty folder

This also happens with PNG, EXR, DPX, and JPG. ProRes renders as a blank file, and FFV1 gives a resolution error even when I’m far below the limit.

The Quicktime formats do this as well. I remember in older versions being able to 4x upscale past 8K up to 16K. I hope someone’s able to find out where this bug happened so I can manually redownload an older version as I don’t want to shell out another $100 for a bugfix…

This also happens doing direct 4x upscale from UHD 4K to 16K. Topaz Video AI is currently unusable above 8K, making models like Rhea pointless for my uses. I just wanted to render higher resolution to be able to crop in on existing 4K video.

Apologies for the delay in response, did not see the notifications of your response.

When running Rhea it internally upscale the video by 4x, so this can be a culprit of pushing past the 16k limit.

Do you still have the logs from the attempts with image sequences and ProRes that you can share for the team to look at?

I believe that it should be in that logs for support zip I sent. Haven’t used the program since then. Let me know where I can find the other logs if you need additional ones.

I pulled up your older logs and went through them again and there are only a few error codes listed, showing as above resolution errors when trying to go above the 16k limit. The rest of the time the preview processes run.

I just ran some tests and was able to generate out a preview at the 16k limit in v6.0.3 and was able to run a preview in v5.4.0 as well without issue.

Can you try again and send the updated logs to us via help@topazlabs.com? Trying to determine if this is something that is more of a issue that has gone unnoticed and was just in v5.4 and resolved in v6.

Yes 4k source is another reason they should give us 2x optimized Rhea (and/or 2.25x, which allows directly go from 480p to 1080p) But Topaz said it’s not possible, I don’t think so.
