VEAI Command-Line Alpha 3.0.0.3a

It could be that the VLC player itself was the problem.

I did set VLC now to DirectX output, since my new vertical 4K video wasnt able to play fluid too.

But i cant test, VEAI does not work without internet connection and out network is down.

Update: i still had the output and when i want to play it with directx output vlc does instand crash.

the output of v2.6.3 is ok.

update #2

Alpha played with Windows Photo
look at the timeline, its broken.

I’m working on the mac and it seems fine in my testing. Let me try on windows and use the script we send out.

I notice that you are using a AMD GPU. We will have to test more on AMD AMF encoders, especially the codec options being used. Should be fixed in the next release.

Imac Intel also uses Amd.

Mac uses apple’s videotoolbox, so it should work fine.

How do you actually use the “prap” model with this?

prap is only for parameter estimation. You can use it with veai_pe or veai_up in the future.

Good, as I’m having pathing issues yet again, in spite of having the right paths set in both the environ variables and via my folders…

I have had login issues on Mac as well — I’ve updated my password several times and it seems special characters (namely “!” and “*”) are being misinterpreted as being part of the bash command. Picking a different password allowed me to log in.

If you have special characters in your password, you can use single quotes around the password to prevent them from being interpreted by zsh/bash.

Is there a way to set the encoding of the output (on the mac) for the VEAI Alpha? I desperately need a way to choose a format with lower file size than ProRes but is on the other hand able to encode 8k that can be played back afterwards. ProRes LT or Proxy would also be sufficient.

hey hey, first time trying this, so just a quick newbeee set up question for M1 Mac… what do I do with the Headers & Dylibs.

thanks all

The headers & dylibs are only used for making a custom build with different features than we have enabled in the regular download. If you’re only wanting to try out the alpha, you just need the “Mac (Universal)” files.

If you are wanting a custom build, there should be an INSTALL-Topaz.md in the source code download, with instructions.

I finally am getting a chance to try this, but I am not having any luck. When I run the stabilization.bat, it starts running, but eventually, I get this (I have a GTX-1070 in Windows 11):

File C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp.tvai-test.mov\second_pass_complete is created
Third pass
WARNING: defaulting child_device_type to AV_HWDEVICE_TYPE_DXVA2 for compatibility with old commandlines. This behaviour will be removed in the future. Please explicitly set device type via “-init_hw_device” option.

Edit: Never mind, I am an idiot. I just noticed the -nvidia.bat files. I am looking forward to testing. Thanks!

Edit 2: I was able to use the run-me-nvidia.bat and get output, but the stabilize-nvidia.bat creates a zero length file. Here is the end of the output…

Windows issue I find while stabilizing… every video comes out slow and needs to be sped up by 120% to basically match the original footage

thank you very much

Looking forward to testing the GUI alpha and beta versions. Very exciting!
