V1.4.0 and now v1.4.1 files are saving with a strong magenta color, Not usable files!

Hi there,

My Nikon z9 files are having terrible color change when treated directly on Topaz or via Lightroom into Topaz… the outcome is coming with terrible colors (in many cases strong magenta color), and photos are not in condition to be used. With that I am not able to use Topaz…
Would you please review it and provide solution? Thanks
André

This is a known issue if there are raw edits made to the original NEF file. There are two workarounds for this:

  • Remove the edit from the NEF and reapply it to the DNG after processing.
  • Use the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI method with a TIF.

Is a fix being worked on?

So, If I save the image from .NEF to .DNG this is what happens (no edit made to the image, SOOC)

But if I save it as .tiff, the colors are not as close to the original which is my goal, but surely a workable file…

I have no problem to send you the NEF file to review, if so please send me the link where I can save it for you.

Thanks,

André

Hi the RAW file was uploaded at the link provided.
File name “PZ9_3372”

Thanks,

I forgot to mention that I updated the version to V1.4.3, which is the one related to the image below

Thanks for sending the file. It looks like there are two issues here.

  1. Camera Vivid profile is causing the color shift
  2. There is an issue in the metadata causing affecting the white balance.

To prevent the color shift, I would recommend against using Topaz Photo AI in stand alone mode. Please try the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI method from within Lightroom instead.

We added a fix for this color shift issue with the Z8 and Z9 HE* files in v2.0.2. Please update and use the Raw processing, the colors will stay consistent now!

Hi, thanks for the contact.
I installed the new update, and yes, the Magenta color issue was gone for this image in discussion, and few others that I tested (image SOOC from lightroom to Topaz, back to lightroom. I had to reset to get closer to the original image).

But now I see another issue, also appeared in other testing files (I will need to spend more time to see the consistency of the issue). please see same image from above with a zoom in the region with impact on the image.

This is the same image I shared with you via dropbox, maybe you could simulate same issue. I noticed that the more Sharpening in Topaz it is added the more “white” spots appears.

thanks,
André

We have a fix for this in the release coming this Thursday, we found an issue where colors were shifted in color channels where it reaches the maximum value.
