On almost every professional video player, the J, K & L keys control playback and playback speed.
Pressing J should play the video backward at normal speed, pressing it again with go to X2 speed, then X4 etc
Pressing K should act as Play / Stop
Pressing L should play the video at normal speed, pressing it again with go to X2 speed, then X4 etc
