Upscaling to FHD results in 2048w videos instead of expected 1920w (1080h is fine)

I’m trying to understand how to get the FHD generation to result in 1920x1080 videos - right now from where I’m starting (720x576), it’s giving me 2048x1080 instead of the expected 1920x1080 HD format
thanks

Under the Output Resolution section you should just need to set it to 1920x1080 and that will export the video in that resolution.

Are you seeing this option in the app?

If you can upload the logs here or email them to the support team directly at help@topazlabs.com and we can see what is going on.

To gather logs, open the Video AI app and select Help > Logging > Get Logs for Support and attach the zip file to your reply.

Thank you - yes I am seeing and using this option. However the output is 2048x instead of the selected 1920w.

I am seeing an odd tag on the file in reference to the DAR tag that shows 2848:1467 but this is only on one file in the logs.

Are you seeing this happen on multiple files or just one?

If its just one can you share that file with us so we can run some tests to try and replicate the issue to better understand what is happening?

You can securely submit your file(s) to our Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something and include the file name.

Thanks.

I saw that on some videos occasionally. Not that often but it happens. For couriosity if you look into the video info it claims to be 1980 x 1080 which obvuiosly is not. :eyes:

I just upload a sample - btw I’m now realizing the converted videos have no sound!!!

You can try this: Click on “Codec Settings” and change “Audio Mode” from “Copy” to “Convert”

Bertrand, the processed video you shared to my dropbox is showing as 1920x1080 in the media info and it does have audio with it. The first part of the video is quiet it seems but there is someone talking about 11 seconds into the clip.

I am running a test on my end now with several models to try and replicate the issue you are sharing.

this is how it shows on my macOS

Hi Bertrand, okay so after some digging and talking with the team, this is showing up as the “Original Pixel type” is selected when doing the upscale to 1080p. If you swap it to the “Square Pixel” it should then show up as 1920x1080p in the finder. There is an issue in Mac OS Finder that is showing the resolution as 2048 instead of 1920 despite the video being exported out as 1920x1080.

When I open the processed video you sent on a PC or bring it into a video editing app it does open and show as 1920x1080.

Swap that pixel type and you should be good.

if “pixel type” selection is not available, the container format must be remuxed and flaged as 16:9, then Topaz brings the dialog to stretch anamorph 720x576 source to 16:9.

I don’t think this function is implemented well in Topaz: I want the option to freely stretch videos in width. Simply introduce the option “free aspect ratio without letterbox”, pixel values I enter stretchs or squezze the video as I want.

free scale, like VirtualDub can do it, or many other programs
Resize free aspect ratio
