For those of you who haven’t driven over Beartooth Pass, I highly recommend it, especially in conjunction with a visit to Yellowstone NP. It’s one of the most spectacular drives in the US. Though some might find it a bit scary.
The Beartooth Highway is only open about 4-1/2 months a year. The weather can always be dicey, but on the clear warm days it’s stunning at 360 degrees. Loads of hairpin switchbacks but numerous pullovers for photos. Also, wonderful day-trip hiking routes on the Beartooth Plateau and in the Custer Nat’l Forest. < Beartooth Highway Info >
