Tui Perched On A Bed Of Flax flowers

The Tui is a native bird of New Zealand.

Twenty years ago their numbers were on a steep decline. Introduced predators, such as Rats and Stoats were raiding their nests for the eggs and young fledgelings. Fortunately, people stressed their concerns to the New Zealand government and measures were put into place to kill these destructive rodents.

I’m pleased to say they are once more in great numbers. It is so good to hear their birdsong once again. The Tui is so unique because it has this beautiful plumage of white feathers under its neck.

Really nice processing, and I learned something, too. I had never heard of a Tui before.
