Topaz Video Crash On Startup

Topaz Video v1.2.0 is crashing a second after the splash screen shows. No chance to get any logs. I do have the Apple “Problem Details and System Configuration” report with 2,024 lines for what that is worth.

I’m fairly certain that the software is trying to reload the last project/video it was working on and failing. It all started with a crash on that video while trying to scroll through the timeline with a frozen preview window.

Is there any way for me to clear out the project it is trying to load?

I’m guessing the standard answer of reinstalling the software is the recommendation.

If you want the Apple report, I can send that privately.

Maybe try to remove the content inside the “Topaz Video Projects” in your Documents folder… this is where the last opened projects are stored. Feel free to make a backup first of course.

I clean it up regularly.

Hope this helps!

That’s some good intel!

I tried renaming the Documents/Topaz Video Projects/Default/project.tvai file but that did not help.

I tried renaming the Documents/Topaz Video Projects/Default folder and that did not help either.

I tried renaming the Documents/Topaz Video Projects folder and that allowed Topaz Video to start up.

Thanks for you idea!

David, please send the Apple crash report to the support team at help@topazlabs.com, and we can take a look.

Try deleting the project file completely from the system and then the app should launch and have you start a new project.
