The unintaller always ask me if I want to keep my settings. Unfortunately my settings are always lost when installing a new version. :eyes:

The first time after install the application launched in full screen size mode without resize buttons. The application could start with the smallest window size centered on screen instead.

Generated previews randomly are not being shown. The preview window remains stuck with the “Not Processed” info unless I actively click onto the preview in the list.

Please do NOT dimm down the brightness of the preview windows. I can barely see anything.

Could be interesting to get the option to only store a specific number of previews, maybe the last one or two, otherwise the drive and the preview list fill up quick with dozens of previews and preview files.

The red cross error that occasionally happened and made ffmpeg crash unexpected during export or when generating a preview was related to a CPU instability and probably not related to Video AI.

When I choose “All GPU’s” in the preferences only the dedicated graphics is used. Using both worked in the past so I assume it should do as well today.

The temporary export file is nowhere to be found, especially not in the temp folder set in the preferences. the temp folder contains all previews but misses the temporary export. :eyes:

While the temporary export file is not to be found in the temporary files folder there seems to be a temporary export file outside that folder but that one can’t be opened during export though.

“Fix bug with generating temp files for Exports.”

THIS IS A BIG FAIL ! because there is no live export during export anymore and I can not even look into the export file during export anymore because it always dropps an error when I want to open it. I can not test this version properly this way and have to revert back to the latest final build because with this “fix” I totally lost control over the export quality during export. I am not willing to wait 4 hours for a movie to complete only because I was unable to have a look into the export file during export anymore and to maybe stop processing earlier. :disappointed:

What happened to Aion? It’s not in this release.

I am not clear with this issue / statement exactly. does it mean that it moves auto estimation to GPU for non-AVX2 CPUs, or there is an issue currently moving Auto estimation to GPU for non-AVX2 CPUs?

Totally agree, for me it’s also a big problem not be able to look into the export file. I’s the only way to preview the file during export.

I second that, we need at least one preview possibility. Preferably live (clunky or not), or via the temp files.
I see “live preview can have frame de-sync” in the know issues, so live preview is supposed to be back?

There is no issue. It is working as intended.

It will be released as alpha soon.

PNG output does not playback the PNG files after processing a preview. It just plays the original video. This is not a new bug, I just wanted to bring it up here.

True… But if you have made previews of enough parts of the video, the export will be the exact same quality as those previews. I’m failing to see the logic in needing this ability.
Must be container or codec specific. My output was set to H265 in mkv container and I was able to play it back while exporting. Of course my usual PNG output cannot have that issue.

Another bug that has existed for awhile now: Previews of videos files don’t get auto-deleted on GUI close, neither do their folders—But Image sequences do.

But not always is enough. Sometimes the “problem” arises in a no previewed fragment and it’s time to change settings and rerun without a long waiting for the end of the process.
The preview of the images of the generated frames of export video is lost in 4.x. There is a way to enable it?

Bug Report

If you select number of videos and set Interlace and set an AI other then Prob4 (e.g. select Interlaced → Dione TV), the upscaling settings would reset themselves back again to the default Proteus 4 when you actually look at each video upscaling settings.
Another form of this bug, if you load 2 or more videos and stand on one of the videos and set Interlaced → Dione TV, then you go to the next video on the list (let’s say to set it’s settings) and go back to the previous video where you just set Dione TV a second ago, you will see it was reset back to the default of Proteus v4 for deinterlace.
it is not only limited to Dione TV, I noticed the same happens if you set Iris, etc.

For some reason any settings for deinterlace that is not Prob4, won’t stick.

Process time always shows “0” when completed, but not during rendering.

then why it appears under “Knows issues” if it is not an issue, it sound more like a feature or an intended function. it should not be under known issues.
known Issues is reserved to misfunctioning feature / function or a process.

Now I know how Mac users feel; I have a whole new respect for Mac users, hell, if it weren’t for their anti-upgrade stance with too many proprietary parts I’d build myself a Mac!

Thanks for letting us know, will be looking forward to testing!

You are right, I removed it.

I came here to say the same thing. What happened to the Total Time to complete that was visible in prior versions?

How do I know how long the file took to process outside of the original timer. I can look at the file creation, and last modified dates as a work-around.

Bug Report

it appears that Sharpening values do not register in the Metadeta of the video. there isn’t an entry for Sharpening.
I tested on Nyx Fast, not sure if other AIs are effected by it as well or it is only limited to Nyx Fast.

When applying a crop to the source, it does not get honoured in any of the preview views. The result shows the cropped upscaled file, but the source in the preview is shown uncropped, leading to mismatch in the images which makes them difficult to compare
