Canāt open the Preferences dialog via the File menu or via the keyboard shortcut. Other menu options seem to be operating normally. This is on Win10 22H2.
Edit: Added logs as they state something about an error creating the Prefs dialog.
Can confirm this is also an issue on W11. Canāt do anything further with this Beta if we canāt get into the prefs.
From the logs:
2023-07-28 19-05-29.356 Thread: 16056 Debug Error creating preferences dialog qrc:/preferences/PreferencesDialog.qml:148 Type ExportPreferencesView unavailable
qrc:/preferences/views/ExportPreferencesView.qml:292 Tooltip is not a type
Can confirm Preferences also does not open on my Windows 10. Export As is working again though.
Cropping preview functionality has been restored, thank you.
Please implement saving of cropping and trim parameters to the preset.
Please implement copy and paste of the timecode value both with keyboard shortcuts as well as with right-click.
My Presets dropdown was completely blank until I saved the current settings as a new preset. After that, all existing presets (the default ones and my custom ones) appeared on the dropdown again.
On further testing, the āPresetsā dropdown is a bit cursed. Now, no presets are loading on the list (just ānoneā available as an option). If I save a preset, it is gone on next program start.
I see the Resolution is working again, but canāt believe one must select from a drop-down āPriority Attributeā, please donāt have that, just let 3 fields be available and set it to whatever one we choose! (And set it again if someone puts in a width, tabs out and then sets a Height, us users can figure out the rest).
Same finishing wait for 30 seconds at least on final frame. This using Iris Interlaced.
Separate 980 pros for the program and the export/preview folders.
Seconding my omission of this beta unless my custom paths are respected, and that anonymous data collection is turned off, as I not only do not have room on my SSD (The default paths) but the incredibly large files that would be written to that disk would DRASTICALLY shorten its life as I usually export lossless videos between upscaling and the finished video from my pipeline!
Iāll know if my settings were reset during installation, and from checking the logs.
Thanks, though, for letting us know about the preference bug!
Thanks for giving 3.3.9.0.b a try. I have released a 3.3.9.1.b that should hopefully fix the preferences dialog issue. I will continue to look into the other issues reported in this thread.
Prefs dialog now does work again here with the new 3.3.9.1.b on Mac Studio M2 Ultra / MacOS 13.4.
Live Preview cannot be selected for actual exports while it works for the Preview.
Still the āfill up all RAM plus swap space bugā with IRIS when upscaling and RAM set to 100% occurs - which does not happen at 10%; plus the BIG performance drop when setting RAM to 100% and doing SD upscales.
Interesting to see that in VEAI v3.3.9.1.b the name and tooltip has changed for what was ārecover detailsā - now āimprove detailsā.
I find the tooltip to be telling of an issue I have with the Iris V1 model.
āUsed to improve fine texture and detail lost due to in-camera noise suppressionā.
What I see is different. I am seeing texture and detail lost due to VEAI Iris V1 noise suppression / upscale / revert compression.
In the attached example, zoomed at 200%, there is no āin-camera noise suppressionā reducing details on the forehead. Those details in the input are smoothed out by VEAI Iris V1. Having it set to manual makes no difference with revert compression and reduce noise noise at zero and with Improve Detail at 100. Also, this example is not just an input/output frame mismatch - there is no output frame with any forehead detail
Yes, it does seem to apply a uniformed denoise across the entire frame to equalise the results (Itās an uneducated observation as I donāt have access to the tech being used)
Iām curious if they can train not only facial reconstructive components, but also human physique/clothing, which would require using nudity/genitalia to be used, and I would hope progress in that regard wonāt be discouraged due to attitudes with nudity.
As an artist, I view nudity from the perspective of artistic human anatomy as the human form is not sexual by default as itās only a human form, no, itās the context that makes nudity sexual, so Iām guessing progress with the models arenāt stunted due to attitudes about the nude human form.
If we can use a database of facial features, we should also be able to use human physical components as well as clothing, and other inanimate objects, and the like, which would eliminate the need for a uniform denoise filter.
But they are working on Iris vers 2, so Iām excited to see what they come up with!
But for extreme blurring I usually turn down the revert compression considerably, and bump up the restore original detail, and try to find a balance by tuning those as well as recover details.
