Topaz Video AI 6.2

There is a real speed improvement in 6.2.0 on my system with a 3080 ti.
5.3.6
nyx 9.1 fps, 0:05:14.26
prot 20 fps, 0:02:22.73

6.2.0
nyx 9.8 fps, 0:04:52.90
prot 22 fps, 0:02:14.25

No GUI was used in this test. I installed 5.3.6, ran the bench mark to download all the models and warm things up, then ran my script. The fps is the average of the full processing time.
I did the same thing with 6.2.0. Installed, ran the benchmark, then the script.
Both these tests are not in the auto parameter mode processing at 1x scale. I picked Nyx and Proteus because those are two models I care about. The videos are 1920 by 1080, 2 minute clips. The last increase in fps was seen around the 1:50 mark for all tests—so a shorter clip would have had lower numbers numbers.

Selecting AV1 as codec with dynamic + high settings options results in broken files that won’t play in VLC.

Also, where did the ‘auto’ bitrate option for AV1 go?

原来这个问题还没处理好呀,真的是太让人失望了!还好我还没有续费,等到问题解决了再考虑续费了!

Only English here please

Why? I had no problem translating Jay’s comment:

It turns out that this problem has not been resolved yet, which is really disappointing! Fortunately, I haven’t renewed my subscription yet. I will consider renewing my subscription after the problem is resolved!

Google translate does a great job.

We shouldn’t have to. The posters should translate before posting, IMO

I updated Topaz Video AI to 6.2 on Win11Pro, and Davinci Resolve Studio 19 or 20 Beta won’t start. I’ve reinstalled Davinci three times and deleted all program folders, to no avail. I uninstalled Topaz Video AI 6.2, and Davinci Resolve Studio starts again. What do I do now with Topaz Video AI? Am I the only one?

TVAI has issues with Davinci Resolve in my experience. Once I uninstall TVAI then resolve functions fine.

Same exact issue – when I updated to TVAI 6.2 on 4/10, now each time I try to start DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 it crashes on the splash screen. After much pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth, I found that the Windows crash report file says that DR crashed after something having to do with the TVAI Ofx plugin(s). I haven’t yet figured out how to deal with this. Earlier versions of DR do the same thing (haven’t tried V20 yet). Do I need to revert to an earlier version of TVAI or are the devs aware of this issue? I have to figure there are more than a few folks out there who use both TVAI and DR!

EDIT: After more research, I had success with something I tried after reading on the BlackMagic forum – in Win11, find the folder called “Plugins” in the path “C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX” and rename the folder to anything else (I called it Plugins.tmp). I can now run Resolve 19.1.4 with no issues. Whew!!

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have never experienced a crash in any of the versions I have used. This is something I would like to see addressed as soon as possible.

Crashes on splash screen with Resolve 19.1.4 and the new v20 beta. So I assume too that the ofx plugin is broken regardless of the davinci version used.

I can confirm it.
My 3070 with Intel Core i7-10700 works slightly faster in 6.2 compared to 5.3.4
5.3.4:
SD 720x567 2x upscale Proteus all parameters set to Auto = 19.2 fps
SD 720x567 2x upscale Rhea all parameters set to Auto = 8.3 fps (15m30s test footage processing time)

6.2:
SD 720x567 2x upscale Proteus all parameters set to Auto = 20 fps
SD 720x567 2x upscale Rhea all parameters set to Auto = 8.5 fps (14m57s test footage processing time)

Wouldn’t it be easier to just delete the TVAI plugin from that folder? That way, any other plugins you have installed will still work.

DaVinci Resolve is not working anymore when the new update of topaz is installed. I dont know why, but it crashes after trying to open the programm immediately. I installed the older version of topaz and it works fine. Please search for the problem.

I should have been more specific – the only files in my instance of that folder are the two TVAI plugins, so renaming the folder didn’t break anything else. I assume that deleting the TVAI files would work as well, but I didn’t test that specifically.

Ah, fair enough. I wonder what TVAI will do next time you install an update? Will it recreate the folder, skip the plugin installation, or get flustered and fail to install at all? Hopefully, option number 2!

It’s quite disappointing to see the preview bug is still here. It’s a major inconvenience and I haven’t been able to properly use the application in months because of this.

Setting a time for previews doesn’t limit preview processing. No matter what time I select, the preview just keeps going after it passes the period set.

The only way to get a looping preview of any duration is with the in/out setpoints and Render In-Out.

So what is the point of having times on the blue Render button?

Maybe we need a “disable live preview” option in Preferences that will restore the old looping previews.

I’m currently subscribed to the Pro plan. Unfortunately, it seems that the 5000 series multi-GPU setup isn’t working properly. There’s no difference in frame rates whether I use a single GPU or multiple GPUs.

It’s not just your 5090s. My older Radeons are processing at the same speed as a single GPU even though both are churning away in the resource monitor.
