Topaz Video AI 5.2.3

Are you guys still working on a more aggresive Artemis Aliasing/Moire preset/algo for line skipped video? I sent sample vids months ago to you all, but I haven’t gotten an update on it.

If you were one of the very few users who were using multi-GPU rendering on your system within the app, email the staff directly at enterprise@topazlabs.com.

Clarifying - this normally requires a check of our usage analytics to confirm multi-GPU usage in prior versions.

The very small number? Seeing the number of those who claim this little, it seems that there are more than 2%
If TVAI worked flawlessly, I think that 99% of us would use it for 300$/€ and Topaz would literally kill the competition.
Just see the like on his post … it speaks for itself
Who really care of a commercial use ?!? We will not use to widespread 8K godly improved ! It’s not possible at this time, or you need a Cray.

The offer you are talking about is 7 days trial or 700€/$ upgrade?

If that is the case it is a joke…

I am one of these many users, and I had to go back to 5.1.3 with its ton of bugs, but mGPU and I am still angry about this change.
My mGPU setting blows my RTX 4090, so this thing has to come back definitively ! Topaz must see they did a huge error by splitting this program.

Agreed. A lot of people are wanting to improve their VHS videos, and you have proven that it can be done, but you need to take Iris to the next level and give it some better attention for working with these low-res video sources.

Email sent. Let’s see what comes back. In the meantime, have a beta of a build where Multi-GPU actually worked living on my system.

Somewhere around version 5.1.2 Topaz began doing strange things when also changing resolution.
I can repair it with MKVtoolnix.
I just set the same resolution as I set in Topaz.

In this case 3840x2160

Players like VLC honour that metadata and start doing weird when opening files supposedly having ridiculous display resolutions.

A PAR of 1:1.00xxxxxx should be written as 1:1

For a special project needing the best quality possible I wanted to use a CPU encoder instead of my Nvidia or Intel GPU when finalising it in HEVC Main10 with VBR.

I then discovered that this setting is not available.

Can it be implemented?
AFAIK this should be easy as it is merely instructing ffmpeg

I’ve asked before to improve our grip on the final encode.
The VBR “Low, Medium and High” are not enough and don’t include any hints about the final target size.
It doesn’t even show the qpvalues, which could be a first and very easy step to move to something better. An estimate of the average bitrate is what we need to predict the final file size.

I can edit the file “C:\ProgramData\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Video AI\models\video-encoders.json”
This file will be overwritten by each upgrade
I already had to throw away a 2 day render because I didn’t realise this.

I’m using now these settings

    "cqpValues": {
      "High": [ 12 ],
      "Mid": [ 27 ],
      "Low": [ 29 ]

instead of

    "cqpValues": {
      "High": [ 17 ],
      "Mid": [ 25 ],
      "Low": [ 28 ]

It means a significantly higher quality for “High” and a bit lower for “Low” and “Medium”
These settings are my personal preference and it took several encodes to come to these values.

Which in fact means that all previous encodes were sub-optimal to my liking.
Of course I will not redo all those renders… It would take much too long.

Please don’t take the possibility to edit “video-encoders.json” as a reason to keep the encoding settings as is.
It’s a workaround.

Take a look at handbrake for some inspiration!

When will there be new versions of Ai models to improve Frame Rate? Aion needs version 2. Also the new version of Proteus 4 warps the picture in dark places on some settings, so I’m still using version 3. Also add 240 fps please, we need it for the flow twixtor. Right now max is 120fps, unlock to 240 please

You’ve started releasing updates less frequently - every 2 weeks. Please try to train models and fix program errors during this time

It’s not a workaround, it was promoted as a feature when it became available.

Just remember to save, copy & paste your custom version each time you do an upgrade.

Yeah right…

Topaz is about improving the quality.
The encoding settings should be less primitive.

So you’re saying it’s too much to ask to have some slider or at least 6 flavours?
I’m not saying it has to be in there immediately.

I agree that they should have a mechanism in the app to allow custom values (slider etc).

I got my reply. The “offer” is to sell me a Pro license. Totally f’ing useless.

Welcome to the club

My pc is faster now then when i had version 4 . But i find as the software grows its going slower to render videos. you need too tweak it to get more speed. Because you do have a version of this out that dose the job quick but for £4,000 so speed can be improved it bit as we cannot afford £4,000 please.

Did they offer it at a discount?

Nothing said about a discount.

That is unfortunate. Based on their reply in the forums, it seemed as though they were going to make you a special offer of some sort if you reached out to them. I guess that isn’t the case…

It’s purely a business decision, because when a commercial gesture is offered in a public forum like this by Topaz employee, they must offer it to all. I’m sure on the Topaz side, someone had a stern talking to over this offer. Gene-8240 did exactly what they wanted him to do, is to tell everyone in the forum they refused to honor the offer.
