Dropped latest one in there
Oh interesting. After this completes I’ll try it on that computer again.
SLP and SLHQ appear to be working just fine. At least they generated a file and were dumping into it. SLS 20 minutes and nothing but a spinning wheel.
Getting my first errors in this version trying to use SLP. Some error out with the below, any idea what it means?
“[VariablePool] Typed pool initialized with 5 slots in 0.12s
single_shot_process status: TopServingErrorCode.MODEL_INFERENCE_ERROR, {}

Using an RTX 4090 GPU.
I got that background warning too. So I’d also like to know.
Thanks.

I need full log file: Dropbox
I believe that is in reference to the new Nuke plug-in and is a file for Foundry’s licensing aspect if you have Nuke installed, it is needed to connect the plugin into the app. When running the installer, you can choose to not install the plugins and that should not get installed.
That’s highly impressive!
In 1.5.0 my test clip took 39 minutes to complete. In 1.6.0 it took 10:59. That’s with my RTX 3080 Ti. On the computer with the RX 9070 XT, it took 54:49.
Downgraded to 1.5 and I’m still getting nowhere with Starlight Sharp. It just loads, starts processing, and does nothing, at least in the 10 minutes I give it to do something. No file being rendered to.
Is there one version of each model that’s standard across all versions of the program? Or does each version of the program have it’s own version of the models? Frustrating!
Going to try 1.4. Might wipe ProgramData folder inbetween installs this time.

I’m already working on another project because I wanted to confirm the issue wasn’t related to the source file itself, but rather the recent patches. Considering my current render has now been running for 6.5 hours using my manual settings, I’m assuming the source is not the issue again.
When I get a moment, I’ll try to recreate the problem and gather whatever information I can. The main issue is that with the past three patches, renders frequently hard lock my system when attempting 2160p HDR → 4320p HDR exports. Even 1080p → 2160p HDR renders often fail as well.
The last stable build I’ve been able to reliably use is version 1.0.4. With that build, I can trust projects will complete without needing constant supervision.
What’s frustrating is that the newer patches do improve performance slightly (around +0.03 FPS), which can save several hours on large 8K HDR renders. Unfortunately, the stability issues outweigh the performance gains when renders fail, hard lock the system, don’t recover properly, and often don’t generate crash logs because the application assumes the project is recoverable when reopened.

No Intel Pro B70 yet? It passed the system check, but won’t let me install the neuroserver ![]()
Well 1.3.1 finally rendered Starlight Sharp for me. Hallelujah!
Not sure what happened between 1.3.1 and 1.6 that borked SLS. Maybe I just needed to wait longer.
Does this update actually work. Can I take an MKV file and upscale it to 4k HDR without it throwing error messages half way through using Proteus model or something simple ? The only one that works consistently is 1.2
1.3 fails
1.4 fails
1.5 fails
Install reinstall adjust settings, sliders 80% max graphic card etc etc yada yada ..
Lemme know if 1.6 can do a 45 min video .
If not I’ll just keep using 1.2..
You did not respond to my message. You did not respond to my previous message. Can you fix my problem, as to why when I select another hard drive for export does it not work? Thank
I disabled the app background activity in settings/general for sh and everything is still working fine.
In the installer, there was no option for Nuke plugin. Anyway, I have now disabled the background activity for sh. But the concern is that this shouldn’t have been enabled in the first place by the Topaz installer.
Thanks.
Andy
I just upscaled a 45 min TV show to 4k with hdr on Proteus and it worked without an error on 1.6
What I do for every install regardless of the version is I go into the preferences and disable all the crash options and set all my videos to prores proxy .mov files.
I also select a separate directory called export on my desktop and I make sure all of the source files are also on the desktop as well so that way it doesn’t have any problems reading from external sources.
And then after the upscaling is done I throw the file in the program handbrake…and then encoded as an x265 file main 10 profile and then just adjust the settings the way I like them that way it retains the HDR content and it keeps the file size small.
I’m going to do three more episodes today and see if it gives me any crashes but it looks good so far
I also make sure that in the preferences I select the export directory as the one that I made on the desktop and I also make sure that I have any exclusions in my windows security to ignore any type of changes that occur in topaz in the program files and in the export directories that I’ve chosen so that way there’s no problem with Windows finding an issue or something writing data where it shouldn’t
Hmm, that’s why I had the similar BSODs, even corrupted my SSD!
The same Asus B650 board…
