Hmmm… interesting - I actually had App & browser control in windows security turned OFF and it was causing the problem. I turned it back ON and the install gets past that point now. It is not finished installing, yet, but everything seems to be working okay.
Are you clicking the Quick Export icon, or the Export option and then setting a different location? The log you sent shows it set to go to the same file path as the input.
I click on export only and then I select the disk where I want to receive the video. But it never works
Unable to use Starlight Precise on MacBook Pro M5. System passed, model downloaded. Log files indicate: Error opening input: No such file or directory. Other models work OK (Iris tested). Will email log files with 5 different attempts. Tried to rename input file. Tried to use or not use temp folder… tried to re-enable Full Disk access. Unable to find solution for now.
Edit: updated to macOS Tahoe 26.5 (I was still on 26.4.1), same error
Terrible. Hardlocked my system after rendering 2160p HDR to 4320p HDR for barely 3min. Failed faster than last two updates.
Try running the installer with Admin privileges and allowing Topaz Video through any security and anti-virus apps. Do you have the Smart App control turned on?

First: thank you for the quick reply, great support from the Topaz team! Files uploaded (also emailed). Also received email confirming the issue with mkv container. I converted my file to mp4 with ffmpeg and it worked !!! Here is a first 2x upscale from a DVD (576p) using Starlight Precise. I think I like it very much, I have often complained about skins being too artificial. I will run more tests to make sure it’s not “too aggressive”
Edit: noticed spelling error in the name of the file, will leave it as is…
I actually had it turned OFF and it was causing the problem. I turned it back ON and the installation proceeded correctly. Go figure!
This is a first for me. I’m running Starlight Percise 2.5 on my AMD RX 9070 XT. Just doing a minute clip of a VHS recorded onto DVD at 2X scale. It’s using 18.6 GB of shared VRAM, and like 30GB of normal RAM. I’m a little worried I might actually need 64GB instead of just 32GB now. No one wants to pay for that right now.
I can’t say much about the speed right now.
I saw you have some 12GB Nvidia cards from your profile. Just want to let you know for those cards this version is expected to be faster than last release.
1.6 not working for me at all on SLS renders. Haven’t tried other models.
Trying a clean reinstall.
refering to Topaz Video 1.5.0 - #60 by Mayday I could finally solve the problem, after many hours, so here’s a small side note — I hope it helps anyone experiencing the same issues. Even after reinstalling Windows, I had strange clock timing errors in the windows log, and again blue screens, which made me suspect a hardware defect. I had already updated BIOS and drivers, but that didn’t help.
To get to the point: the Asus Driver Update Tool provided me with an outdated chipset driver from 2025. The solution was to install the latest directly from AMD — so new Chipset driver is highly recommended for all AMD platform owners! B650 / B840 / B850 / X870 / X870E
After the latest chipset driver installation for my B850, all problems were gone like wonder. The system feels faster, there are no more crashes, and even my external SSD in a USB enclosure no longer randomly disconnects from Windows, which used to happen from time to time before.
Still nothing. Model loads and appears to be processing but nothing in preview window. Tried on a very short clip. Just kinda hangs out.
Are you referring to SL Sharp along or all models?
I have only tried sharp so far. Let me try another model.
