To be honest I would have to agree with some good and interesting points and currently the whole thing could have been handled more efficiently.
But, there were always going to be winners and losers and Topaz has made some effort to minimise that affect by making the changes now because, historically most people have either purchase or upgraded their software during the Black Friday though to Christmas and the January sales time.
So, by announcing the changeover, now the least amount of people will lose out I know it’s not perfect but, if they had waited till after the sales all hell would have broke loose.
Meaning there’s not a good time to have done this but, now is probably the better of the two evils.
Topaz are moving to a Subscription and there’s nothing you or I can do about that but, they have tried to sweeten the deal by offering us practically everything and then some for 15% less than the regular price of updating Photo AI & Gigapixel combined and 75% off the purchase price for the new Topaz Studio also, that price is locked in for as long as you subscribe.
I can only speak for myself but, as someone who’s always upgraded for me that makes the whole thing cheaper than the original apps DeNoise, Sharpen, and Gigapixel AI and I still get Topaz Video.
Having said that, you don’t have to go down that road you can, do as you have and purchase the apps you require and use them until their no longer compatible with your computer because, as you know if you’re on a Windows Machine the original DeNoise, Sharpen Gigapixel AI and Video AI still work without any issues so, it’ll probably be years before you’ll have to think or do anything about it besides, Topaz competitors would have caught up by then so, more choices you.
I know you think you’re been taken for a ride and I understand that completely and like I said, I think this whole debacle could been handled better.
May I wish you luck in your future endeavours where, ever that takes you
