Per Lingyu, an Uninstall + Reinstall will reset everything including settings, which can help if any conflicts or corrupted AI models were an issue. Otherwise, either is fine, and running a previous installer without uninstall will be faster.
For a bit I was running several version of tpai (win10/11) because of instabilities - I think I ended up with a bloated models directory because there were some leftovers from 2.4.2 (and others) - 197 files and 17 GB. I recently cleaned them out (now have 140 files, 9 GB) and havenāt noticed a difference anywhere.
Good to know! Thank you for checking & sharing the answer.
I think in the past when we were recommending that (& being told to do that) it was b/c users were rolling back due to serious issues that arose with a newer release. Vs. just a features pref or something of that sort.
Yes, Iāve experienced that with some of the betas when I had to wait for a full install (if it didnāt carry in with the beta installer). And, it is a much longer process!
@Fotomaker - I do find in some screen shares I have done that sometimes reverting back the desktop shortcut doesnāt update, and doing a REPAIR on some Windows machine, by rerunning the installer a second time fixes that. Faster then a reinstall, but of course, a full uninstall/reinstall would avoid this as well but be much longer!
After an update on Mac, attempting to Recover Faces results in instance quitting.
15.1
@james.walker-9084 - since this is OS 15 Sequoia you updated to, see this post here, the CoreML Photo AI folder deletion should resolve this crash issue
Iāll have to remember that if I experience such a thing in future. (You know Iāll be driving myself nuts thinking, now I know somebody told me what to do & Iāll be fruitlessly searching the forums for the answer). Maybe Iād better put a keyworded tip into my Palm calendar for today, so more easily searchableā¦
Are they still working on a permanent fix for this in a new update soon?
@Celts88 - yes, the development team is looking into a permanent fix and is testing with users experiencing this. Will be in releases notes once a version fixing this is released, and the Known issue thread will also be marked as resolved. The coreML folder deletion in the meantime does resolve this.
I have the same issue. I have to use version 3.2.1 to avoid immediate āError: Topaz AI has crashed.ā
@fesansom-183808 ā I mentionned this already, seeing your reply is same, putting it here in case:
reverting versions should not take very long. Make sure when switching versions that you do not uninstall, and you can find the download links to any versions here: Releases - Topaz Community
I see crash reports that you have 0.1 GB of VRAM, with a Intel Iris card. You can send us at support@topazlabs.com your System Profile and we can return a link to be on the latest driver and workarounds if crashes still occur!
@joyep - Make sure to test the standalone, not from plugin, as the standalone needs to work before the plugin does. If the standalone fails, send us an emails to support@topazlabs.com with your System Profile: How To Obtain Your System Profile (Windows)
My M2 Ultra Mac Studio running Sonoma 14.6.1 is having problems with the Edit Selection facility within the Remove function while batch processing. Frequently, the selection tool gets stuck. It will attempt to select or deselect throughout its path on the image, instead of only when clicking and holding. I have tried to close and restart the software, but the problem can recur across two sessions.
A related problem occurs when the same selections get stuck from image to image. Say, I make a selection to remove a tattoo in one image. That selection persists when I move on to the next image regardless of the image content.
Anyone else?
I have not seen this. Does this occur on all AI Processor options in Topaz Photo AI > Preferences > General? Are you able to test updating to OS 15?
Hey there, just upgraded to photo 3.4.4 and have constant crashes when batch exporting images using
Auto pilot to add recover faces. I bought this for a professional job and am on a really tight deadline are there any work around to batch export 100ās of photos with specifically recover faces attached. Iāve tried just adding recover faces to all photos with auto pilot off and on and get the same result, always at some point in the process photo 3.4.4 just crashes and closes unexpectedly . Would really appreciate a work around or access to a beta copy , the thought of having to export 100ās to 1000ās of photos one at a time is terrifying!
Maybe try an earlier version or update your operating system.
You could try downloading an earlier version of the application and see if it still crashes.
You can do so from the āReleasesā sub-section of the Photo AI forum (I would post a link but it looks like my account does not have permission of doing so).
Thanks guys will do! Any recommendations for the last good stable version?
I am not quite sure which one to recommend since Iāve only bought the product recently, however my suggestion would be to start with 3.4.3 and see if it crashes with your workflow. If it does, go back another version (3.4.2) and repeat until you find a version that is stable.
