Topaz Photo AI 3.0.3 Still does not work with Nikon Z8 or Zf

I see the old threads reporting the same issue have been locked. The color is completely off when going from Lightroom to Topaz - to the point that the program is unusable (a shame because it used to save my low-light images). Has anyone found a work around to fix it? I was hopeful that the 3.0.3 update would solve the issue (since the update said it would)…no dice.

It’s possible that the problem hasn’t been fixed for you because your colour shifting is caused by a different bug/issue. I would recommend giving a complete report of what is happening on your system (with examples and screenshots), so it might be possible to diagnose the problem.

Would you mind sending in some more information to get a better understanding of the problem you are having with this particular type of image? Please send the following information:

  1. The original image file.
  2. The processed image.
  3. A screenshot or description of the settings panel so I can see what adjustments were turned on.

You can securely submit your image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below.

Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.

Tried to batch process with photos taken with Nikon Z8. Photos are coming out the wrong colour and pixelated. Tried again on another computer with the same settings and it came out the same. It seems like Photo AI is not compatible with Z8 files.

I know this has been an ongoing issue and an update was supposed to fix it but I am still having the same problem and it appears others are also.

The only way I can batch process is to convert my NEF files to a TIFF first and then process. An extra step and more time used in a busy work schedule.

Can this be looked into again please!

Our developers are investigating this issue that is occurring on some but not all Z8 images. If you can please use the Dropbox link above in this thread to send in some example files you are having trouble with and we will be sure to investigate further.

If you decide to send in a file via Dropbox please be sure to send a note here to notify me that you have sent the file as we do not receive notifications of this procedure.

Hi John,

I’m also experiencing this issue or something similar on Topaz Photo AI versions through 3.1.2. I’ve uploaded two examples to the Dropbox Request Link that show some significant color shifting, especially with greens. The color shifting shows up in the preview/adjustment window for me, so it doesn’t seem to be related to the processing or the export.

Original raw files, processed files with Autopilot and no LR settings adjusted after import, and a few supplementary A/B screenshots included.

Let me know if you need more examples.

For other users, here is what I’m seeing.

The fastest way to get this resolved is to use the Dropbox link above to provide examples, especially RAW files that Topaz can process themselves. The more examples we can provide, the faster we can get to a solution.

This may be the same issue that’s referenced here as well.

From that thread I tried the Edit-> Photo In workaround, which avoided the color shift using a TIFF conversion. If so, it may already be on your radar at this point.
