same problem on M1 Ultra 64Gb Ram.
just took 4:50 minutes to show the “Version” Window of 2.1.4.
That is a huge Program Failure. It does not run on M1 Ultra.
So I will change to alternatives.

Restart Mac.
It helped to me.
Restart often. New install, check installation and all settings. These installation spend more time as the usage in the last year. So I will change. I have to work and no time to repair the software.
