Topaz Photo AI 1.5 - Crashes all the time in RTX A1000 GPU

I’m using a Dell Precision laptop with an RTX A1000 GPU. Driver version is 536.67.

In past versions of Topaz I was able to make the program work, with certain releases I was able to do hundreds of pictures batch processing, but then after updating sometimes I was able to do just a couple of pictures before crashing. Really inconsistent release after release. Now with 1.5 I cannot even make a single picture and it’s getting really frustrating. Any idea what is causing the issue? if it’s the RTX driver can you point me to the one I should download to get Topaz to be stable? Thanks in advance.

I believe there are issues with the RTX Ax000 series of GPUs that are being looked into, in the meantime just select the CPU for processing.

Thanks for the update! Using the CPU setting definitely is working… at a glacial pace…I hope the problems with the RTX Ax000 series get sorted out. Not all the time but when I need to use the scaler is for work and this can only be an interim solution!

We should have a fix for this in the next few weeks, before September.

Please install this version which has a potential fix for the crashing on your NVIDIA RTX Ax000 graphics card:
https://downloads.topazlabs.com/deploy/TopazPhotoAIAlpha/1.5.0.aie0/TopazPhotoAIAlpha-1.5.0.aie0.msi

Process some images and let me know what happens. If you see any errors or issues, open Topaz Photo AI, go to the menu bar on the top and click the Help > Open Log Folder menu option. Email me all the logs files that you can see in the window that opens.

Hi Lingyu. I installed the provided version and so far It’s been really stable. I was not able to crash it even batch processing over 100 images.

A couple of times, unplugged (from both internet and power), It gave me an error in the model that could only be solved closing the picture and starting over with the process. Those times I was trying to push the limits duplicating the resolution of 20mp landscape pictures. I’ve been not able to replicate those errors once at home.

Overall really happy with whatever you guys have done in this version.

Please open Topaz Photo AI, go to the menu bar on the top and click the Help > Open Log Folder menu option. Attach the logs files that you can see in the window that opens.

I can figure out the cause of that error.

Find attached some logs as requested. Let me know your findings!

Thanks for sending the logs. I found the error in the logs and shared it with my team to review.

Sure no problem, happy to help! When do you think you will roll-up the fixes for the Ax000 series from the alpha version into the regular release?

The release yesterday v1.5.3 already has the fixes for the Ax000 graphics cards.

This other error you are experiencing is a separate issue it looks like.

Hey Lingyu, I wanted to get back to you but it took me longer than anticipated. I just want to confirm that indeed 1.5.3 works like a charm for me. No more crashes since I updated. I hope is the same for all RTX Ax000 owners out there!
