Topaz Photo AI 1.4.0 oversharpens some edges

Some edges (facemask on softball player) are heavily oversharpened, though others are appropriately sharpened.

Setings: remove noise, sharpen subject, face detection not run, upscale switched off, preserve text switched off

Also: ran Photo AI on the unmodified .CR3 file, no accompanying .XMP file

Are you talking about the pixelation along the edges here?

This is a known issue with the Raw Remove Noise model. We will be updating the Raw Remove Noise models soon to prevent this issue.

A workaround would be converting the Raw to a TIF before processing in Topaz Photo AI. If you use Lightroom Classic, you can use Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI.

Lingyu–Yes, that was my observation. In another photo, the vertical edges on the subject’s ears showed the same effect.

Thank you and the whole team for continuously improving Topaz Photo AI. I use it on virtually all my sports action photos, and its effects change my game. Yours–Kent
