Hi - Upgraded the other day to 1.4.0. Previously edits from Lightroom carried over to TP AI, so that the denoising, sharpening, etc. were done with the contrast, lighting, color grading I had selected. Now TPAI seems to edit the RAW without any of my previous LR edits, and returns a denoised/sharpened DNG that needs the LR edits re-applied.
Note that this happens only when I shift to TPAI through the File menu, which is the recommended workflow since it does not require the creation of an intermediate TIFF and is supposed to preserve higher quality. But the only way I seem to be able to get TPAI to edit with my LR edits is to go through the Edit menu and use the intermediate TIFF.
Am I doing something wrong, has the functionality changed, or is this a bug? Thank you.
Similar issue. After making minor rotation to straighten an image, choosing Constrain Crop, I processed DNG file through the recommended File>Plug In Extras>Photo AI path, choosing “edit a Copy with LTR Adjustments.” The resulting DNG file shows white margins on four sides resulting from straightening the image. In addition, colors in the new file are not true to the original. Dark blue and sky blue colors of a wall decoration have been significantly lightened. A green wall background outside the blue areas is also noticeably lighter green. It’s clear that the adjustments made in LTR are not being carried over into the new image created via the File>PlugIn>Photo AI path. I’m using Photo AI v.1.4.0, downloaded yesterday to my Windows system.
I just tested in v1.4.2 and this seems to be working. Can you update and let me know if there is still an issue?
Topaz Photo AI currently does not transfer Crop or Straighten properly. I would avoid using those specifically with a Raw that you want to process in Topaz Photo AI. We have a task to fix this in the near future.
For the color shift, please send the original Raw file so I can reproduce this. You can securely submit your image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something. Dropbox File Request
Topaz Photo AI does not read or transfer Crop or Straighten edits made to the Raw. We have a task to fix this in a few months when we rebuild crop to handle this.
You will have to import it without Crop or Straighten and then make those edits after, or use the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI method for these files if you already made Crop/Straighten edits.
Other edits should be transferred. If the other edits are not transferring please send me a sample file with edits made so I can reproduce. Include the XMP file if there is one.
I would also like to have a Raw file so I can check the color shift.

Still no luck. Whenever I try to use Topaz Photo AI (now 1.4.3) to process a RAW image through the file menu (to process the full raw file), it is not keeping any of the RAW edits I did. I just uploaded another RAW file (this of a woodpecker) to the dropbox. I tried converting it to black and white, both by profile and by the Color/B&W toggle, so the image was B&W. However, when imported into Topaz Photo AI 1.4.3, it is processing the original, color, unprocessed image. I have per instructions above tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
If you use “Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments” then the TIF will have the edits applied already.
If you want the flexibility of having the Raw edits, then you can use File > Plug-in Extras > Process with Topaz Photo AI and save the file. The output should have the same edits copied from the original to the DNG even though the edits do not appear in Topaz Photo AI.
That’s what I keep saying – previously (older version), whenI used FILE > PLUG-IN EXTRAS > PROCESS WITH TOPAZ PHOTO AI, it did copy the LR edits and carried them over into the DNG created for Topaz to denoise & sharpen.
Now, however, the DNG does not carry over any edits. It creates a file with none of the normal LR changes I have made (such as basic, color grading, etc.).
