I was super surprised to see that my new M3 Mac Studio with maxed out ram is running at 3.2fps? It’s not much faster than my intel mac. And I see no settings to change anything although I read online about setting option in preferences but when I went in there, they don’t exist. Do I need the pro version to get those extra settings? Does anyone know?
Maybe do a benchmark comparison with someone else who has an M3:
There are a lot of variables that go into the processing speed besides just the system hardware.
The source video’s specs (resolution, frame rate, codec and container), which model or models you are applying, the output specs, all play a factor here. Also if you are pulling the file from the internal drive versus an external can cause slower performance.
As Alan mentioned, run a benchmark process as that gives the estimated processing speeds within an ideal test environment. These are going to be faster than what you will see when running an actual video file through but can be a gauge on what can be expected.
Super helpful responses. I was processing @4K so looking at alanhusband’s post it’s inline with what he’s experiencing. Good to know I wasn’t doing something wrong and this is what it is. Thank you.
Good to hear, when running videos through the app, the AI models run very differently from video editing apps, and sometimes it’s a gut check to see the numbers versus what is seen when rendering a video in Premiere, Resolve, or a regular video editing app where the video source is similar but the process running is a lot lighter.

Yes, at 4K the GPU plays a lesser role and other factors come more into account like CPU, RAM bandwidth and the like.
