Topaz AI V2.0.x has too many issues processing Fujifilm raf

Doesn’t matter using Autopilot or manual sharpening, the imported photo back into LR gets washed up colors, screen goes totally weird colors every few seconds and then back to lloking normal, parts of the screen looked bleached, too many issues to describe. And when exported as jpeg it comes out horrible and nothing like the edit.
Also, cannot save sharpened image from TAI 2.0.x as TIFF back into LR, only as DNG which everything will be messed up when start editing.
Not sure if I am doing anything wrong or I should give up and change the software

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Edit in Topaz AI (non edited RAF file)
  2. Once opened in TAI, use Autopilot or manual sharpening
  3. Save back into LR

Instead of using the plugin export, do your basic edits in LR and then use Edit in - Topaz Photo AI and choose a TIFF to Export to Photo AI and see if that makes a difference as you will retain all the basic editing done in LR when the TIFF file is updated from Photo AI.

I processed the file and got a very different result.

One option we can try is to process the image on the CPU. The graphics card may be causing this odd output.

Please open Topaz Photo AI and go to the Edit > Preferences menu. In the General tab, find AI Processor and select CPU.

Process the RAF and let me know what happens.

Hi Don, thank you for replying to my issue. For some reason I could not use Edit-in as it was not showing doesn’t matter how many times I tried to add it via “Preferences” but with the new LR update (rev 13.0.1) it magically appeared. Now I used the Edit-in with tiff as you suggested and the result is pretty good. Thanks again for the help. Appreciated.

Hi Lingyu, Thanks a lot for taking time to replicate the image processing. I tried your suggestion and it worked to process the image without those crazy color/edit shifts. Having said that it looks like processing the “raf” file by converting to tiff through Edit-in gives a sharper & less noisy results. Many thanks again for the help. Appreciated.

We are looking into a fix for the RAF file issue. Unfortunately it has been more difficult than expected, but we are still trying.

Please reach out if I can help with anything else and I’ll do my best!
