TIFF processing better than RAW for Panasonic Lumix RW2?

I disagree with the dialog suggesting that I open the RAW file rather than the Lightroom-generated TIFF file. For my camera (Panasonic Lumix TZ-100, .RW2 file) I find the results of using Autopilot on the TIFF very good. however the result from the RW2 file is mediocre, not as sharp but still with visible artefacts (far more than from TIFF processing).
I shall carry on using the TIFF route for now.
