there is more noise in the raw i open in topaz in order to denoise etc than in the raw i open in any other software
how do you explain that??
In my experience, some photo editing software automatically applies a baseline level of noise reduction to raw files without making this obvious to the user. For example, by default Lightroom Classic does this - I believe the sliders are set to about 20 for luminance and chroma noise reduction in LR by default when opening raw files. Since one of the main selling points of Topaz Photo AI is its denoising function, I believe its preview of the raw image is shown without any noise reduction applied.
I’m not sure if this fully explains the difference you are seeing between how Topaz and other products render the preview of the input image, but it might explain part or all of the difference. Perhaps someone else can weigh in on this.

In that case, then yes it’s even more likely the case. If it were the preview, there might’ve been a conflict with the models.
